Matthew Elliot Carrington(June 9, 1992) is a Jesstopian Politician who has served as the the Representative for New Shire's 28th and 37th Congressional District since 2010. He currently serves as the 33rd Speaker Of The House Of The People. He previously served as the Speaker Pro Tempore Of The House Of The People in 2025. He previously served as Deputy Speaker of the House Of The People from 2022 until 2025. Carrington also currently represents North Lorray's 28th and 37th District in Congress. He also has served in State Level Government. Carrington was selected by Gretchen LeWolf to serve as her Deputy House Speaker, on November 3, 2022. He was sworn in alongside LeWolf on November 10, 2022.
House Of The People(2010-Present)[]
On November 25, 2010, Carrington was elected to represent New Shire's 28th and 37th Congressional District. During his tenure, he has awarded New Shire's 28th and 37th District's with much needed funding to improve and upgrade infrastructure. He was also instrumental in providing State-wide flooding insurance for residence at very low prices. He was instrumental in providing a stronger education system, but largely getting rid of Common Core, and replacing it with Advanced Education, a program that the State itself operates. It is partnered with Jesstopia's Government to aid in a successful curriculum being drafted and implemented into the State's schools.
Deputy House Speaker(2022-2025)[]
On November 3, 2022, then Speaker-Elect Gretchen LeWolf announced that Carrington would serve as her Deputy House Speaker for her term. She announced him early in the morning of November 3, 2022. He was sworn in on November 10, 2022, alongside LeWolf as House Speaker. Carrington was sworn in as the 29th Deputy House Speaker on November 10, 2022, at 10:00 AM. He will serve until 2025.
Speaker Pro Tempore[]
On December 14, 2024, House Speaker Gretchen LeWolf announced that effective on January 5, 2025, she would step down from her role as House Speaker, and would return to her seat representing the people of New Shire's 1st Congressional District. She announced her departure via a statement on the Speaker's website. Carrington, who had served as Deputy Speaker since 2022, will assume the role of Speaker Pro Tempore.
Speaker Of The House(2025-Present)[]
On January 17, 2025, the House held a special vote, to fill the vacant Speaker's chair before the 2025 House Speaker Election. Carrington was elected in a vote of 288 to 193, with just 30 Representatives voting absence. He assumed office on January 17, 2025, the same day the vote took place.

Carrington has been an outspoken supporter of the LGBTQ community, and had been fighting for LGBTQ rights since he entered the Deputy Speakership. He continues to work to improve LGBTQ rights and ensure that they are have protections afforded to them.
2025 House Speaker Elections[]
Onn December 5, 2024, Carrington in a surprise announcement, said that he was seeking election as House Speaker. He said he is looking to challenge his boss House Speaker Gretchen LeWolf who continues to face backlash for her lack of regard for border security and now for her recent decision to push back the 2024 Inflation Reduction Act vote until after the start of the 84th Congress, on January 1, 2025.
