Joey Marcus Rigg(September 5, 1989) is a Jesstopian politician who has served 2nd Junior Senator from North Lorray since 2019. Rigg defeated Incumbent Senator Lawrence Rivers in the 2019 Senate race. Rigg is also a veteran who served in the Jesstopian Army from 2011 until 2016. He left the army 2016 with the rank of Captain. He then decided to run for office following the resignation of then-Senator Marcus Rauledin, who resigned amid health issues. Rigg has remained a strong supporter of Joshua Adamson's re-election campaign, as well as Jay Laylin's presidential campaign. He has donated over 2.5 million dollars to Laylin's campaign and over 2 million dollars to Adamson's campaign.
Early Life[]
Born on September 5, 1989 in Lancel, Nox City, North Lorray, to parents Matthew Rigg and Nancy Colby-Rigg, he is the youngest son of the pair, with two of his brothers serving overseas in various positions of authority in the Army. Rigg comes from a military family, as both his parents served in the Marines and Air Force respectively. He had a love for the military and wanted to join as soon as he graduated college. He joined the army and "made life long friends along the way."
Personal Life[]
On June 1, 2015, Rigg married his college sweetheart Chloe Denise. Together they have four children, three sons; Mitchell Rigg, Nathan Rigg, and Marshall Rigg, and Daughter Fionna Rigg. They currently live in Nox City, with their children and three German Shepherd dogs. The family moved into the Nox City Mansion in Little Town, Nox City.
Senate(2019-Present)[]
Joey Rigg has served in the Senate since 2019, becoming the Senior Senator for North Lorray's 5th District on June 15, 2022, following the retirement of Senator Randy Ackele. During his tenure as Senator, he has publicly expressed shame in the Pro-LGBTQ bills that are working to afford more rights to the community, making it a hate crime to speak out against the community. He rejected to bill, and the bill in question did not pass. He has been an outspoke rejector of anything to do with the community and made statements back in 2021, that he does not and would support gay marriage in any form. He had tried to ban Gay porn sites, citing "ideologically and morally wrong undertones of the type of porn."
2019 Senate Race[]
On August 15, 2018, Rigg announced his bid to run for the Senate. He focused his campaign on rallying support for his Anti-LGBTQ bills, that focused on shutting down the discriminatory policies that were passed by the heavily Nationalist majority in 2018. He said that there are two genders and that marriage is between man and women.
By October 2018, he had garnered support from high ranking Republican senators, who said that Rigg was "the way to future and the future of the Republican party in the Senate. During his campaign, he raised over 100 Million dollars, and used that money to create targeted ads at the Nationalist party, who claimed turned to the United States Of Jesstopia into a "nutjob, fruit basket" breeding ground.
In October 2019, the time that the Senate Congressional elections are held, Rigg won the election and was sworn in as the Senator for North Lorray's 5th District on November 10, 2019. He virtually changed the political landscape for the Republican party in a Nationalist party dominated Senate. He focused on shifting the strengthening the authority of Republicans in the Senate. He signed over 2,000 Senate bills and helped convict six terrorists during his first term.
2022 Senate Race[]
Rigg ran in 2022 unopposed and easily secured his second term in office. According to political analysts, it was the first time in modern that a Jesstopian Senator ran unopposed. Many speculate it was due to a filing error on behalf of the Nationalist Party, but no confirmed reports of this have been found.
He is carrying out his current term were he focused on securing the Jesstopian border, working to strengthening healthcare coverage, reducing inflation, promoting cheaper drug prices. He has also advocated for safer schools, while advocating for the gun rights. He has visited six schools and spoke directly to them. He took questions from students at Nox City High School on June 10, 2023.
2025 Senate Race[]
On June 1, 2024, Rigg announced that he was running for a third term as North Lorray's Senior Senator. He said in a statement during a Senate meeting, that he was running. No one opposed him until July 24, 2024, when Nox City Mayor Tom Brosnik announced his plans to challenge Rigg. Rigg began spending millions on campaign ads. He is quickly trying to shutdown Brosnik's campaign, hoping to secure a third full term. On September 20, 2024, amid his sexual assault scandal, Rigg announced that his reelection bid was suspended.
Sexual Assault Allegations[]
On September 16, 2024, a woman, later identified as an American prostitute from New York City, filed a lawsuit in American and Jesstopian courts before the case was also filed in Jesstopian Federal court. In her complaint, she accused Rigg of inappropriately touching her after her consent was withdrawn. He complaint states that Rigg "forcibly stuck his hands down her pants and made disparaging comments about her family and life choices." She also claims that the encounter "has left her with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and night terrors." She is seeking 15 million for her "pain and suffering."
Upon word that he was wrapped up in a sex scandal, Senators and Representatives of both parties began calling on him to resign. He has remained defiant as the House and Senate seek retribution. However, on September 18, 2024, House Speaker Gretchen LeWolf announced that she would be rapidly assembling an Impeachment Inquiry Committee who will serve to find evidence to determine if Rigg committed on any crimes or can be held criminally liable, as the alleged assault happened in the US.
On September 20, 2024 following an agreement between Senate and House leadership, Rigg announced that he would be dropping out of the 2025 Senate Race, but will be allowed to carry out the remainder of his term, but won't be allowed to leave the country until his term expires. It is unknown whether he will be ineligible to run for Congress in the future.
Secretary Of The Interior[]
Nomination[]
On March 6, 2025, President Jay Laylin nominated Rigg to serve as the next Secretary Of The Interior. He cited his lengthy work on promoting the protection of Jesstopia's natural resources, while allowing the country to build it's infrastructure in a sustainable and prudent manner. He is now awaiting the Senate to confirm him as the 36th Secretary Of The Interior. If confirmed, he will replace Secretary Janice Connors.
Withdrawal[]
On March 10, 2025, just four days after being nominated, Rigg announced that he was withdrawing his nomination, due to the Senate being unlikely to confirm his nomination. He said he doesn’t want to be a road block to the Laylin administration and its agenda
North Lorray Gubernatorial Bid[]
On February 25, 2025, Rigg announced that he was seeking election to become the 22nd Governor Of North Lorray, seeking to defeat incumbent Governor Linda Lee during the 2026 North Lorray Gubernatorial Election.
Jesstopian Army(2011-2016)[]
Rigg joined the Jesstopian Army at the age of 22, and served for 5 years, doing 2 combat tours, and earning six medals, one including the Jesstinian The Great Military Greatness Award. He obtained the rank of Captain before his contract was over. He did not re-enlist and went home in late 2016. Between his Senate run and the end of his Military career, he focused on advocating for veteran rights. He addressed Congress four times before he would eventually win the 2019 Senate Race. He worked hard to ensure that homelessness within the veteran was stopped, he advocating for the construction of homes for these homeless vets and called into question the treatment of Veterans by their healthcare providers. He worked to undress the stigma of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder(PTSD) and worked to ensure that veterans were living safer and healthier lives. He continues to advocate for veterans.
Support Of Jay Laylin's Presidential Candidacy[]
On August 5, 2024, Rigg announced that he supports Jay Laylin's campaign's call for Bindle to step out of the Vice Presidential race to allow a younger person to take on the role of Vice President, as pressure mounts for Bindle to step out. He publicly expressed that "Bindle should just retire after a long career in public service." Unconfirmed reports say that if Bindle drops out, Rigg is in the running to replace him. Against these reports were never confirmed.
