The Governor Of North Lorray is the Head of Government within the State Government. The Governor is elected to 2-year terms with no current term limit imposed by the State constitution. The role of the Governor Of North Lorray is to sign laws, legislation, executive orders, memorandums and proclamations. The governor is the head of state and is the head of the state's executive branch.
Governor Of North Lorray[]
The current Governor Of North Lorray is Linda Lee. She was elected in 2022. She won a second term in 2024. It is unclear whether she will seek a third term in 2026. The governor is elected to two year terms, with the inaugural holder being John Hancock.
Elections[]
Electing the Governor Of North Lorray occurs every two years on February 15, with the winner of the election being inaugurated on March 15 of that election year. The winner of an election is decided on the person with the most votes. If a race is to close to call, a secondary count is conducted to determine the winner of the election. If that fails, a second vote is held, known as a runoff election, where voters cast a second ballot for their preferred candidate.
Term Limits[]
As of now, the North Lorray Constitution does not provide for any term limits other than 2-year terms. Governors may seek any number of terms, as long as they get reelected by the people of North Lorray. In 2019, then Governor Sam Simon, proposed term limiting governor's to 4 years, renewable once. He also said that a governor who served 8 years, would not be allowed to seek future terms in office in his lifetime. The proposal stalled in the then-Republican held Senate. In November 2022, Governor Linda Lee re-proposed the term limits and it passed 62-15. The first four year term limit will be observed during the 2026 North Lorray Gubernatorial Election.
