The Governor Of Jordan is the chief executive, and head of state of the State Of Jordan. The role of Governor is to enforce laws, provide for the defense of the citizens of Jordan, direct the departments of the state, appoint judges, and other state officials as well as lead the national guard and state police.
Current Governor[]
The current Governor Of Jordan is David Sperry as of 2025. He assumed the role as the 34th Governor on January 20, 2026 after winning the 2024 Gubernatorial Election.
Powers and Authority[]
The powers and authority of the Governor vary heavily, but their is a relatively consistent list of powers a Jordan Governor has including the power to veto laws, enact emergency procedures, issuing emergency directives, appointing state court justices, judges, and other officials of the state including state police commissioners, removing county Sheriff's and appointing the Attorney General. The Governor also has power and authority over the state's National Guardsmen and Guardswomen who serve in Jordan's National Guard.
