On January 12, 2025, prior to a speaking event in County Of Towton, President Jay Laylin was shot in the face. The shooter, was able to escape, avoiding capture by the Presidential Protective Service and the New Shire State Police. The President was set to speak during a Steele workers union event, scheduled to deliver his plans to open more precious metal mining sites, which will create at least 2,000 new jobs. He was rushed to the hospital, and his condition is unknown at this time. Vice President Cole Bindle is serving as acting President.
Investigation[]
Following the shooting, the Federal Crimes Investigative Service, the Presidential Protective Service, the New Shire State Police and other investigative officials began its investigation into the President's shooting. On Sunday night, the FCIS made a preliminary statement regarding how the gunman was able to access the secure area. The blamed laxed security measures for the gunman being able to slip by PPS agents and police. According to the FCIS, agents were using security protocol implemented by former PPS director David Calmarro.
