NEWS 28 - Congress just passed the Sam Simon Cancer Research Grant which will allow states to spend federal funding a cancer and medical research programs, and is named after the late Sam Simon, who served as the 3rd Vice President Of The United States Of Jesstopia.
"This Grant will focus on granting State Governments to focus on cancer research, which is essential to battling the deadly disease, and genetic defect," said House Speaker LeWolf. "I am grateful that this bill passed with majority support from both sides of the aisle, and I am thankful to be able to announce that Karen Simon, the late Vice President's wife and her children are here to accept the first of many Congressional medals for the former VP. They were met with applause and hugs from Senators and Representatives from both sides of the aisle as well."
The bill was signed moments ago by President McCallum and was applauded by both sides. The bill is now law and will now allow States to apply for unrestricted funding for grants in cancer research, and the new bill will also extend funding to research programs in the medical field. Simon was a big advocate for Cancer research, the disease that took his life in early 2023.
"Simon was a strong advocate for Cancer research and was an advocate for cancer patients across the country who are struggling with the disease," said Senate Majority Leader Larry Cofelt. "His untimely death is a result of the disease she spent his life trying to cure. It is fitting that this bill was named after him and both sides are happy it was named after him."
