NEWS 28 - Congress just passed the Sam Simon Cancer Research Grant which will allow states to spend federal funding a cancer and medical research programs, and is named after the late Sam Simon, who served as the 3rd Vice President Of The United States Of Jesstopia.

"This Grant will focus on granting State Governments to focus on cancer research, which is essential to battling the deadly disease, and genetic defect," said House Speaker LeWolf. "I am grateful that this bill passed with majority support from both sides of the aisle, and I am thankful to be able to announce that Karen Simon, the late Vice President's wife and her children are here to accept the first of many Congressional medals for the former VP. They were met with applause and hugs from Senators and Representatives from both sides of the aisle as well."

The bill was signed moments ago by President McCallum and was applauded by both sides. The bill is now law and will now allow States to apply for unrestricted funding for grants in cancer research, and the new bill will also extend funding to research programs in the medical field. Simon was a big advocate for Cancer research, the disease that took his life in early 2023.

"Simon was a strong advocate for Cancer research and was an advocate for cancer patients across the country who are struggling with the disease," said Senate Majority Leader Larry Cofelt. "His untimely death is a result of the disease she spent his life trying to cure. It is fitting that this bill was named after him and both sides are happy it was named after him."

Sam Simon served as the 3rd Vice President Of The United States Of Jesstopia from August - December 2022, before dying of cancer in January 2023.

JESSTOPIAN NEWS NETWORK - According to doctors, and the medical examiner, former Vice President Sam Simon died of a pneumothorax, complicated by his lung cancer. The former vice president, also suffered from severe asthma including when he was teen.

"Simon died in part, because of cancer, but the final factor was that his lungs collapsed, before his death," said Medical Examination Professor Jorganna Haltz. "He died in his sleep, and the cancer just happened to aid in his failing lungs. He died of a pneumothorax, a collapse of the lungs due to a hole in the lung walls, or cancer tumors that erode the lung lining."

When the vice president died, he suffered previously from lung issues, and it states that "patient collapsed due to a severe partial lung collapse. Patient is 32 years of age, and continues to struggle with breathing."

Many other medical professionals say that the lung problems started after his October motorcade wreck. His death is heavily contributed to injuries sustained in that crash as well.

RUFUS - More than 5 months after his death, former Jesstopian Vice President Sam Simon's cause of death is being called into question. While reports say he died of cancer, doctors from around the country and world say that his cancer was complicated by his October accident.

In a brief statement, the Jesstopian Journal Of Cancer Research, says that from the "day he was diagnosed to the time he died, would not have had any prolonged effects that could even lead to death, without assistance from a traumatic event." In it they expressed "extreme concern" for the "problematic autopsy conducted on Simon a day after his death."

Other officials say that the death was caused due to cancer but was aided by a severely collapsed lung, that failed and was punctured when the car he was traveling in, was struck and ejected him from the vehicle.

"It is highly likely that his true cause of death resulted from a lung rupture, aided by the cancer growth on his right lung," said a doctor from Douglas Medical School. "His death wasn't directly caused by cancer, but by a ruptured lung."

"There is no other explanation for his death other than a ruptured lung which was caused by the cancerous tumor that grew on his right lung. He died from complications of a pnuemothorax induced by a cancer tumor."

RUFUS - When Sam Simon died at the age of 32, on January 13, 2023, no one could even predict the impact his role in Government would have on people that he once lead. Many North Lorrayans continue to mourn his loss months after his death and state funeral.

"Sam Simon was one of us, he breathed with us, walked with us, worked with us and lived with us," said a Nox City resident. "His legacy here will forever remain, and in particular his legacy with me will forever be there. He helped me get out of a very bad situation, invited me to live with him at the Governor's mansion until I got back on my feet and helped my ailing parents. His dedication to service was not done justice during his state funeral at the Nationalist House. I love Sam for everything he has done for me and my family."

Another group of Nox City residents tell fun stories about the late Vice President and Governor of their state, including one where he successfully disciplined another resident's angry son, in a kind, warm and fatherly way.

"I remember when my son was throwing a temper-tantrum, Simon kindly walked over, asked if he could pick him up and of course I obliged, and he took his hand, pulled me to the side, and told my son that that women had worked super hard to get him to where he is and that he should stop behaving in that manner," said another citizen. "He did so with kindness and elegance and he got my son to stop and actually apologize. His heart was huge, and most people only see him as a greedy politician but I see him as friend, neighbor and brother."

Sam Simon's death came as a serious blow to Nox City, his home, and the announcement of his death led to a city-wide memorial for the former Governor and Vice President and businesses across the city, state and country provided free flowers, food and other amenities for free in honor of him. A man who dedicated his life to giving to others and guaranteeing others had what they needed before himself.

"Sam Simon was just a kind, loving and passionate person. Working with him was one of the greatest honors of my life," said Governor Linda Lee. "His attitude and spirit towards others was flooring to see in person. He was just a lovely person and our world isn't the same without him, even two months on. It will never be the same."

Simon died from brain and stomach cancer at the age of 32 and was buried at the Nationalist House Memorial Burial Grounds, where mourners still leave flowers at his grave site, while visiting other politicians and presidents. His death left a huge hole in the hearts of millions of Jesstopians. His legacy continues to live on long after he'd gone. It will carry well into the future 20, 50 even 100 years from now.

NOX - Governor Linda Lee has recently announced that she has been working on bill to establish the Sam Simon Cancer Research Foundation in honor of the former Vice President Sam Simon.

"It is the greatest honor to be able to introduce this Cancer Research bill in honor of Sam Simon," said Governor Linda Lee. "This bill will allow our state to be the leader in cancer research, more specifically Brain and Stomach cancer, that cancer that killed Sam Simon and devastated his family. The bill will allocate funding for the cancer research center in the State's capital that will provide valuable research for cancer research and we are proud to support and host that bill."

The bill would also enable the State to work with the Federal Government to provide its research to the federal health department and provide additional resources for people fighting cancer.

NEWS 28 - Sam Simon's body and funeral procession is making its way to the Nationalist House Burial Grounds where he will be interred. The journey is beginning from the Nationalist House and will make its way down Jesstopia Street and will end at the Nationalist House Burial Grounds.

The Vice President's body will be lowered into the ground after an honor guard performs the 21 gun salute. This should take a little over 5 minutes to complete. He will then be lowered inside his internment capsule.

JESSTOPIAN NEWS NETWORK - With Sam Simon's funeral well underway, and as speakers continue to give heartfelt tributes to the former Vice President, Sam Simon's life is being remembered worldwide and nationwide. Leaders call him a "driving force for fairness and change."

His life saw a major change, as he first served in the North Lorray Senate, and then Governor Of North Lorray and eventually ranked up to the Vice President. But all this time would eventually end with his death on January 13, 2023. As the nation mourned, world leaders all over the world left lasting tributes to the late Simon.

People from across the world have extended their condolences to the Simon family and have worked to ensure that the Simon family was supported and continues to be supported through their grief. As short as his life was, many politicians say that he played a valuable role in that he sparked change within the federal government as well as governments across the globe.

His death has sparked remembrance across the nation and across the world and he is being honored through his state funeral. President McCallum also spoke on the life of the vice president as well as Cambridge Prime Minister Fredrick Ricketts.

NEWS 28 - Sam Simon's funeral is now underway and many speakers have given insight on the incredible life and work Simon did, not only as Governor but as Vice President. During the funeral President McCallum has spoke about his dedication to service and his dedication to the United States Of Jesstopia.

Others gave praise to the former Vice President and expressed their gratitude for his partnership with them. They also expressed their sincerest sympathies to the Simon family.

"It is with a great sadness that we are here today to say goodbye to an incredible father, son, politician and leader," said Cambridge Prime Minister Fredrick Ricketts. "He has done so much in so little time, and his dedication and call for duty was unwavering even as his health deteriorated. He continued to fight for the Jesstopian people even after leaving office. He continued to provide resources to families who were struggling, aided financially to several student programs for students at risk of committing crimes, due to their financial hardships. His dedication to others over self was something that can and will never be replicated here at Jesstopia's national capitol."

President McCallum also gave a heartfelt speech reminiscing about the time they worked together and the work that he had done in his role as Vice President.

"During his tenure by my side, Simon always went out of his way to ensure all Jesstopians were heard. He often went to poor cities and underdeveloped cities and talked to the residents there," said President McCallum. "He would always tell me that all people deserved a fair and honest chance to make a decent living and a wage that isn't forcing people to live paycheck to paycheck, but allows them to do the things they love to do. He often expressed concerns of the cities that were, in his words forgotten or abandoned. He worked so hard to ensure everyone had a fair chance. His dedication to our nation will never ever be forgotten and his honorable life will continue to inspire all of us to live up to the honorable man that he was and will always be known to be."

His body will again be moved from the Nationalist House to his final resting place in the Nationalist House Burial Grounds. This will take place at 11:00 AM and he will receive a 21 gun salute, authorized by President McCallum.

RUFUS - The body of Former Vice President Sam Simon will leave the national capitol tomorrow morning as it makes its way to the Nationalist House. His body has lain in state at the capitol since Monday and will make its way to the Nationalist House for his state funeral, and eventual burial at noon.

"Simon's body is expected to be moved to the former VP's old office, where his funeral will take place," said NH Press Secretary Smite. "Additionally, police will begin blocking off sections of Nationalist Ave, where you can watch the motorcade pass through, before making its journey to the Nationalist House. The funeral will be open to the Simon family and foreign dignitaries."

As Simon's body remains laying in repose, mourners are continuing to flock to the capitol to pay their final respects to a man they say has "fought for the heart, soul, and fairness of the United States Of Jesstopia." They said that they waited through the rain the first day his body lay in state, but said that they were unable to view it the first few days of that service.

His body will likely leave the capitol early in the morning, but police presence will be heavy, as the body makes its way down Nationalist Avenue and then onto Nationalist House grounds. He will be placed in the vice president's office where his funeral will take place. The funeral will take place at 9:00 AM, and will end with his internment being conducted at 12:00 PM. His plot is ready for his burial and a ceremony will be held to remember him.

NEWS 28 - Former Vice President Sam Simon's Body will lay in repose at the Jesstopian Capitol until his funeral and internment which will take place on Friday, January 20, 2023, and will mark the end of his life. As day one comes to a close of his body laying in State, Simon's body will make its way to the Nationalist House for an official state funeral that will be attended by foreign dignitaries, as well as other distinguished guests.

His body was moved to the capitol early this morning and remains atop the platform that holds his dead body, and the body of an incredible man. His dedication to service and duty to the people made him a very popular politician among voters, who were hoping to put him in office as the Nation's 3rd President Of The United States Of Jesstopia.

Simon died on January 13, 2023, after a brief battle with brain and stomach cancer, ending the life of one of Jesstopia's youngest politicians. His death shocked the nation and the world as he seemed to be the only other person to be able to defeat Thomas Cooke in 2024 and the only candidate who was truly for "the people". He has been remembered as a "kind" and "gentle man who loved his country and the people that have made it as grand and safe as it is."

Foreign dignitaries from around the world have been invited to his official state funeral and mourners are expected to line the streets as his casket is taken from the Capitol to the Nationalist House and then move to his final resting place in the Nationalist House Burial Grounds.

His funeral has been scheduled for Friday, January 20, 2023, and the funeral will begin at 12:00 PM. The funeral will be for members of the foreign delegation as well as the family, with a private ceremony taking place before the funeral around 9:00 AM for the family.

RUFUS - Sam Simon's Body lays in repose at the Jesstopian Capitol and mourners across the nation have come to pay their final respects to the late Vice President. His body will remain at the Capitol until Friday.

Simon passed away on January 13, 2023, from complications of Brain and Stomach cancer, and the official autopsy reported severe hemorrhaging on his brain on the day of the autopsy. Simon previously collapsed two times prior to his death, but doctors gave him a life expectancy of 2-5 years, which were cut unbelievably short when he died.

Simon served as the 3rd Vice President Of The United States Of Jesstopia from August 20, 2022, until his resignation for health reasons on December 18, 2022. He lived for less than a month after being diagnosed with a 2-5 year expected life diagnosis of brain cancer. During his time as Vice President, he built many strong relationships with other foreign nations and leaders and was honored by many nations including the US, UK, Canada, Ireland, Scotland, and Mexico.

His passing has left a major hole in the world according to multiple friends and members of Simon's family. He had a major impact on the world and his death comes as a shock to many of the world's leaders and close allies.

JESSTOPIAN NEWS NETWORK - President McCallum will temporarily reopen the Jesstopian Border on Thursday and Friday to allow foreign dignitaries to the State Funeral Of Sam Simon.

"The border will reopen temporarily so that foreign officials may enter for Sam Simon's funeral on Friday," said the President. "They will leave at the end of the Funeral and the border will re-close. Airlines should not be planning to schedule return flights back to the United States Of Jesstopia."

President McCallum said that this is an extraordinary circumstance and that he will allow the border to only temporarily reopen. He says that foreign dignitaries should be admitted for one or two days depending on where they are coming from, but are immediately to leave the United States Of Jesstopia following the funeral service for Simon.

He also advised Airlines to hold off on rescheduling flights back to the country as they will be turned away by Jesstopian airspace controllers. President McCallum has yet to address when borders will reopen for stranded passengers, and has yet to answer on what his administration is doing to get the passengers home.

"I think it is absolutely absurd that they are letting FOREIGN dignitaries into OUR country, but yet they won't let US in," said an angered passenger stuck in the US. "If THEY are so worried about COVID then they shouldn't be letting FOREIGNERS in. It's that SIMPLE."

Others call for the border to be reopened and are petitioning the Supreme Court to find some unconstitutional act that the President took to get the border closed in the first place.

NEWS 28 - Early this morning, President McCallum temporarily reopened the border for Thursday and Friday, as foreign dignitaries arrive for Sam Simon's funeral. In a statement, President McCallum reiterated that only foreign dignitaries would be coming through and leaving the border.

"The border will reopen temporarily so that foreign officials may enter for Sam Simon's funeral on Friday," said President McCallum. Simon's Funeral will take place on Friday, and foreign officials will likely start arriving on Thursday morning and the last should arrive by 9:00 AM on Friday morning. The dignitaries that arrive on Thursday will stay at the Nationalist House overnight but then return home right after the funeral. Only specific air traffic will be allowed and COVID tests will be provided when they arrive.

"I look forward to visiting the United States Of Jesstopia since leaving it in 2021, and I look forward to speaking on the incredible life of Simon," said Cambridge PM Fred Ricketts. "I will be wearing a mask until I speak and will take safety precautions when I arrive including no shaking hands, taking close photos or press interviews."

Other dignitaries include officials from Canada, the UK, the US, Italy, and Australia. They should arrive early Thursday and Friday morning.

RUFUS - Sam Simon, when he took the oath of office back in August 2022, said that he wanted a full State Funeral, something he is granted per his stature as Jesstopia's Vice President. He said that he wanted to have his body lay in State for 4 days, with the 5th day being the day of his internment.

"Upon my death, whether it be while serving in this office, or when I am no longer Vice President Of The United States Of Jesstopia, I want a state funeral, but wish to buried 7 days at most after my death," wrote Simon to the Congress in regards to the ceremonies after his death.

Simon's wishes will be followed exactly and the first day of viewing will be this morning starting at 9 AM. His body will lay in repose at the National Capitol for a period of 4 days with his burial taking place on January 20, 2023. He will lay in state for 4 days, before his funeral will take place at the Nationalist following his internment into the Nationalist House Burial Grounds.

NEWS 28 - Preparations for Former Vice President Sam Simon's state funeral are currently underway and members of the Counsel of Presidential and Vice Presidential Funerals has announced that the funeral will take place on January 20, 2023, and his laying in state will begin on January 16, 2023, at 9:00 AM.

"We are working to ensure his funeral is an honored filled one and to ensure that he receives as much recognition for his service as possible," said Counsel Director Sara Longby. "We are still planning the funeral as of this date."

The funeral will be a fanfare, as mourners across the nation mourn the death of Sam Simon who served as the 3rd Vice President from August 20, 2022 to December 18, 2022. He is entitled to a state funeral because of the office he held.

The funeral planning process is quite a drawn out process, but a significant as it closes out the life of Jesstopia's second highest officer, and especially one who has served honorably and with honesty and integrity.

RUFUS - The Senate and Senate Ethics Committee has postponed McCallum's sexual assault trial for a second time, to allow for Jesstopia to mourn the loss of Sam Simon who died on January 13, 2023, following a brief battle with brain cancer and stomach cancer.

"As a legislative body, we have concluded that to allow this body's members to honor and mourn the loss of Vice President Sam Simon, we will not be proceeding forward with the start of President McCallum's trial," said Minority Leader Jay Laylin. "We will continue to provide updates to members as to the start date of the trial, but we will likely begin the trial on Monday, January 23, 2023."

Simon's body will lay in state at the Jesstopian Capitol from January 16, 2023 until January 20, 2023, the day of his funeral and burial. Simon will also have foreign dignitaries attend the funeral. President McCallum, Governor Linda Lee are expected to speak at his funeral as well.

RUFUS - Senate Minority Leader Jay Laylin had reintroduced his Presidential campaign after dropping out to serve as Simon's vice president. But after Simon's death was announced, Laylin remained hesistant to run, but ultimately decided to run, and promised to run in honor of Simon's life-long dedication to public service.

"With the recent passing of Sam Simon, I devote my time, energy and campaign to running in honor of Simon's political career and life full of dedicated, selfless service to others," said Laylin. "Today I announce that I will recommit my Presidential Campaign to honoring that legacy."

Laylin announced his Presidential Campaign back on November 18, 2021, but dropped out of the Presidential race on December 29, 2022, to serve next to Simon as his Vice President. He would have also served as the vice president of the Senate.

Laylin has served since 2011 as the Senate Minority leader, and finally announced his bid for President in 2021. Laylin will announce his vice president running mate by June 2023.

RUFUS - Now that Sam Simon has passed away, the Republican Party has lost the only person strong enough to put the Republican party in the Nationalist House, and what they do in the days, weeks and months ahead of the 2024 Presidential elections can really determine what party will control the Nationalist House moving forward.

"With the loss of Simon, the Republicans, likely won't have a strong enough contender to beat Thomas Cooke in the Presidential Elections that will be held next year," said Political analyst Fred Dode. "The Republican Party will really need someone that has more experience, power, and pull than Thomas Cooke, two of the things Cooke has a majority of."

As the 2024 Presidential Elections take place next year, most party candidates will begin their campaigns by mid-late March of this year. Election day will be hosted on October 16, 2024, and inauguration day will take place on November 16, 2024, but the Republican Party says it has yet to have a predisposition as to who will take a potential nomination for the party.

It isn't likely that the Republicans will be able to find a candidate just like Simon, first and foremost, one that freshly swapped political parties, and two, that served as Vice President, the nation's second-highest office. Simon died way before they were able to nominate him, so the party must realign and reassess their candidates and prospective candidates, if the Republicans want to win the Nationalist House in 2024.

RUFUS - Former Vice President Sam Simon's funeral will take place over a 5 day period, first starting with his body laying in repose, starting on Monday, January 16, 2023, and ending on Friday, January 20, 2023, when the funeral is held and when he is interred.

His body will lay at the National Capitol building where he will be on display for mourners to pay their final respects. Visiting hours will begin on Monday at 8:00 AM, and will remain open until January 20, 2023, at midnight. At that time, his body will begin its move to the Nationalist House, where the funeral will take place. By 11:35 AM, the funeral will take place, with dignitaries speaking at the event as well.

The funeral for Simon will begin promptly at 11:35 AM and will conclude by 1:15 PM, where his body will then be moved to the Nationalist House Burial Grounds for permanent internment. A 21-gun-salute will then take place marking his final rest beginning.

The funeral will be attended by foreign and national dignitaries including all 13 state governors, and dignitaries the former Vice President had dealings with during his Vice Presidency. A private viewing for the family will occur later that day.
