NEWS 28 - Cambridge Prime Minister Fredrick Ricketts provided a statement regarding the shooting that critically injured Jesstopian President Jay Laylin. The shooting took place on Sunday morning a little before 10 AM. World leaders across the world are slowly issuing statements regarding the statement.
Prime Minister Fredrick Ricketts and several members of the Cambridge House and Senate held a moment of silence for the president, and offered tributes to the Jesstopian president.
"As I am sure you have already heard by now, the people of Jesstopia are reeling after President Jay Laylin was shot in the face," said Senator Mary Patrickson. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the president and his family at this most difficult time. We understand the importance of their President and the role he plays on a global stage. We are now learning that he is expected to survive and thank god that he will pull through. We wish him well and we know that the people of the United States Of Jesstopia are behind him."
Cambridge's House Speaker issued the following statement during a regular session of the House chamber. He offered a prayer and asked for silence as he prayed for the president.
"The President Of The United States Of Jesstopia plays an invaluable role in world peace, and global prosperity. He is ordered by god to serve those he leads, and he was shot in a ruthless, brutal attack," said Cambridge House Speaker Terrence G. Rigby. "We pray that the President heals and is healed by the almighty god. We pray that he continues to lead the great people of the United States Of Jesstopia for the next four years. May your hand heal the aches and pains that the country and the President face at this most difficult time. May you continue to protect him and ensure that he may lead the people of Jesstopia to safety, security and prosperity. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen."
Prime Minister Fredrick Ricketts issued the following statement on the Prime Minister's website regarding the shooting.
"Today, we as a global community, rally our support behind Jesstopian President Jay Laylin, who was viciously, and brutally attacked by a violent assailant," said Ricketts in his statement. "We continue to send our thoughts and prayers to the President and his family, as he continues to recover from injuries he sustained to his face after the shooting. We are grateful to learn that he will be okay, but the upcoming uphill battle he faces, will only continue as he continues to heal, and as he looks to the future as the President of the United States Of Jesstopia. The shooting is a poignant reminder of the dangerous nature of being a promoter of world peace, and democracy, and being ahead of state truly is. His role as President makes him an easy target, and now he is unduly suffering as a result. We are thinking of him today and pray for his speedy recovery."
Ricketts says he will continue to monitor the ongoing investigation and speak with Jesstopian leadership as the investigation continues. He says he will continue to speak with Vice President Cole Bindle and is expected to continue to receive updates on his health.
