NEWS 28 - Governor Linda Lee and former Senator Joey Rigg are set to hold their final rallies before voters hit the polls on Sunday, where they will vote on their Governor, Lt. Governor and Attorney General. These offices are currently all held by Nationalists, with Republicans looking to take at least 2 of the three. Furthermore, experts are now saying this election may be closer than previously expected.
Both candidates are set to hold at least 8 more rallies before Sunday's election. Rigg's campaign says he will focus on Nationalist-heavy cities, where as Governor Lee will focus on retaining support in cities where support has slumped for her in recent polls.
"Now is the time for North Lorrayans to make their voices heard and tell Joey Rigg that we reject his discriminatory policies against groups of our fellow North Lorrayans," said Governor Linda Lee. "Now is the time we work to safeguard our future by accepting others for who they are. It's time we tell Republicans we won't tolerate their harassment and degradation of LGBTQ North Lorrayans and Jesstopians."
"North Lorrayans will wake up Sunday and head to polls to guide the direction that they want for our state. We will see how the election plays out and I vow to support the results of the election," said Joey Rigg. "This election is crucial for the protection and safety of our children and for addressing the mental health problems are state faces. We can do this. Get out and vote."
Recent pre-election polling still shows former Senator Rigg still in the lead in most major polls. Experts say that polling does not guarantee a candidate has a better chance a winning the election over the other.
"So what we know is that polling can get it wrong," said David Lustman, political correspondent for Davis News Live. "We saw how polls were completely wrong during the 2024 Presidential election when Thomas Cooke was seen to be able to easily win the Presidency. Now just become Joey Rigg is more popular, or Governor Lee has the incumbent advantage, that is no guarantee that either person will win. We have to see the vote count to get an accurate picture of who will be elected."
Rigg has announced four rallies will take place in Nox, Davenport, Dresden and Mallowville. He says that each event will be first come first serve and says that he will announce the remaining four rallies. Governor Lee says she will push for rallies in Ackland, Darrian and Tolosa
