NEWS 28 - New Shire’s Winter Storm Jordan response has been ongoing weeks before the storm made landfall. The state says that at least 15 people whose ages range from 7-25 have been killed. They say hurricanes are in their ways as the rainstorms slam Northern New Shire counties.
Governor Rodgers says she is expecting the death toll to rise as people continue to evacuate as storms slam Northern New Shire. The Jesstopian Weather Service says that it expects heavy rainfall to continue well into next week, with the peak of the surging floods expected more or less midweek this week. Schools across Rufus, Samson and Frankfurt have already made extended closure plans, with districts in Peach Tree preparing for a month-long closure if necessary.
“I am sad to have to report that as of now Winter Storm Jordan has claimed the lives of 15 people ranging in ages of 7 and 25,” said Governor Lynn Rodgers during her early morning press conference. “This storm is quickly taking life so it is imperative that you follow state and local advisories and guidance. This storm is going to continue taking lives if we don’t work together to ride out this storm as we as New Shirens have always done. Together. My heart is heavy as we see the death toll rise and for those families that have lost their loved ones to this powerful storm.”
New Shire State Police and other emergency services are not going to be available until after the storms are over but experts are saying we may be months away from the end of these storms. According to the coroner, many of the victims likely died trying to escape rushing waters but the force of the currents drag them under, and they are unable to escape and drown.
Experts believe and are predicting that over 2.6 billion in damages are expected from Winter Storm Jordan. Emergency evacuations are expected to be ordered in regions of New Shire that are in the storms path but will be touched by the outer perimeter of the storm.
8 Hurricanes have been detected as well over the Sea Of Jesstinian and New Shire and the Northern states are at risk of being hit. North Lorray and Mesa are continuing to monitor the storms and will issue guidance as they gear up for their spring and summer storm season.
”We continue to remind all New Shirens that just because the area where you live isn’t actively flooded, doesn’t mean that it won’t flood,” continued Governor Rodgers. “Please, please, please follow the evacuation orders issued by either me, or your county, city and local governments. We are constantly proving updates for residents to view. Visit disasters.newshire.org/storms/winter-storm-jordan/ for updates, resources and the latest news from the State. The state says it is continuing to provide updates on the effected areas.
