NEWS 28 - The Jesstopian Senate is set to vote on the recent Inflation Reduction Act that was passed by the House on Wednesday. The Senate said that it was scheduled to vote on the bill this morning but concerns are growing that they may not have enough Senator support to get it passed.

The House Wednesday approved the bill in a vote of 299 to 212, with 85 Nationalists voting to support the bill. The bill was then sent to the House Transfer Committee who pushed the bill to the Senate Transfer Committee where leaders of the Senate approved the bill for a vote today.

On Thursday afternoon, Senate Majority Leader Larry Cofelt and Senate Minority Leader Harry Rodham announced that they would hold the vote today, but announced that they is a chance the vote gets delayed. Further, Senate control is held by the Nationalist Party, therefore it could be a long drawn out process before the Senates approves the act.

"We have a lot of work coming up tomorrow as we prepare to vote on the 2024 Inflation Reduction Act," said Majority Leader Larry Cofelt during a press conference yesterday. "The Senate must decisively choose whether the act passes or not, and we know that the House decisively voted for the act, and we are looking at that for guidance."

House Senate Minority Leader Harry Rodham said that the vote is essential to the continuing decline of the inflation, that has slowly crept its way down as President Laylin continues signing executive orders to push forward with cutting down the crippling inflation caused by policies of the Diester and McCallum administrations.

"We need this to pass to help with relieving economic strains on the wallets of Jesstopians nationwide," said Minority leader Harry Rodham during an interview on Wednesday. "If we can't get this act to pass Friday, Jesstopians will continue to suffer as they work 2, 3 or more jobs. It's not fair and we must get this inflation down. My hope is the Nationalists will put forward a bi-partisan effort to get this act passed like the House Nationalists did."

The vote must win majority support which means of the 80 senators, at least 41 Senators must support the bill and right now, it seems like all Republicans will support the bill, which gets them to 25 votes. They will need 16 Nationalists for it to pass.

NEWS 28 - Former Speaker Of The House, Gretchen LeWolf announced early this morning that she was asking Speaker Pro Tempore Matthew Carrington to call a vote on an impeachment inquiry that now has received harsh criticism from her own party and Republicans.

In a brief submitted to the House leadership, including her former Deputy, Speaker Pro Tempore Matthew Carrington, she accuses the president of inciting mass targeting of illegals by Jesstopians, and says that his rhetoric has led to the injury of over 25,000 illegal immigrants. She says that by spewing hate filled rhetoric, he contributed to thousands of illegals being terrorized and harmed.

"I am asking that an impeachment inquiry be started into President Jay Laylin, for leading in, spewing hate-filled rhetoric that has led the injury of at least 25,000 illegal immigrant who were sent back to their countries of origins," said Representative Gretchen LeWolf. "I ask Speaker Pro Temp, to move for a floor vote on an impeachment inquiry of President Jay Laylin, who led to mass targeting of illegals, leading to violent attacks on these individuals."

When asked about her attempts at an impeachment inquiry, Speaker Pro Tempore Matthew Carrington said that it was her right to push for a vote, and that he would leave it up to House members, and said he doesn't support the impeachment, and says plenty of other members of the House don't support it either.

"While I personally don't agree with the attempts to impeach the President, she has every right to bring the motion to the floor, as a member of the House," said Speaker Pro Tempore Matthew Carrington. "I believe that as Speaker Pro Tempore, it is my duty to ensure all members of the House are heard, and not just those I agree with. If she brings the inquiry to the House floor and members agree to voting on it, I will support their decision as my duty entails. Many Nationalists won't support the impeachment but again, it is up to house members."

Representatives including Braden Harris, Gina Horschel, Senate Majority Leader Larry Cofelt and Pauline Brighton announced that they would vote against impeachment after learning of LeWolf's plans to seek an impeachment inquiry against the President.

"I believe this "impeachment inquiry" is very much a retaliatory act," said Representative Braden Harris. "She has made very clear statements that she would fight his administration in every way possible, and has a strong discontent for the President. She knows that this impeachment attempt will go no where, and I am ready to stand up against it."

Representative Gina Horschel defended President Laylin against LeWolf claiming that she was just in it for retaliation for being forced to step down as Speaker for her anti-Laylin rhetoric.

"The President is less than 2 month into his presidency and he has introduced legislation that I don't necessarily agree with, but as President is his prerogative," said Horschel. "But LeWolf's attempt to 'get even' by means of impeachment don't hold any bearing or weight. She is just angered at the fact that she was forced to step down, because of the choice she made to knowingly and willingly prevent important border security legislation that would protect the national interest of Jesstopia and the people that live here. I will not support the impeachment effort. He's done absolutely nothing to warrant the process even being brought up."

Senate Majority Leader Larry Cofelt, an outspoke critic of President Laylin even called the move a shame, and harmful to the effective governance of Jesstopia.

"I am extremely disappointed in Representative Gretchen LeWolf's decision to move for an impeachment inquiry," said Leader Larry Cofelt. "She is effectively using the power she has to get retaliation against the President. I think it is a miscarriage of justice and power, and I will see to it that this impeachment inquiry is rejected. I call on my House leadership colleagues to do the same. It is a shame and harmful to the effective governance of our great land."

The House Nationalist caucus will likely not vote for impeachment until next week, as they have a full schedule ahead of them this week with votes scheduled every day until Sunday. It is heavily speculated that the impeachment inquiry vote will fail.

As Rigg prepares to face his sexual assault accuser, he will be heavily removed from Senate proceedings and he will not be eligible for these committee assignments.

The committees he was apart of included the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, The Senate Ethics Committee, and the Senate Task Force Committee. These committee assignments would require the Senator to leave the country for meetings related to foreign issues including attacks on allies, and other democratic nations. This would require he violate the agreement he made with Senate leadership and House Senate Leadership.

"I have officially stepped down from my roles in the multiple committees I am apart of and will help lead the appointment of the next Senator to take over those three committee assignments," said Senator Joey Rigg. "While I have diligently and honorably served to better these committees, I know as part of the agreement I made with Senate Leadership, so that I could keep my Senate seat until 2025. I need to step down to focus on the final year of my term and hope to carry out my final duties as a Senator until November 2025."

Stripping him of committee assignments will ultimately render Sen. Rigg powerless, as he just sits in a seat. The only remaining power he now has is voting power, but since he is a minority party, he doesn't have much power there either.

"We have decided the best thing to do to ensure he has not official business reason to leave the country, is to strip him of any committee assignments," said Senate Minority Leader Harry Rodham. "He will now have no reason to leave the country. Any committee assignments that need to be filled, can be filled by him, but they would need approval of both the Senate Majority and Senate Minority leaders, which both myself and Senate Majority leader Larry Cofelt are unlikely to approve."

Committee assignments are generally assigned to all Senators based on their experience and are given on a Senator-by-Senator basis, and usually higher level and ranking Senators get better committee assignments, usually involving foreign relations committees and other assignments that require more Senate experience.

Nox City Mayor Thomas Brosnik is currently seeking to win Rigg's seat. He has remained fairly popular in polls and many Brosnik supporters hope that they can win an uncontested victory.

"Early this morning both the Senate and the House agreed to a tentative agreement with Senator Rigg that will allow him to remain in power until 2025, and that agreement includes him not seeking reelection, leaving Congress at the end of his term and remaining in the United States Of Jesstopia until his term expires," said Senate Majority Leader Larry Cofelt. "This agreement allows us to focus on what's important and that is delivering for the Jesstopian people. We won't have to focus our attention and energy on finding his replacement and voting on that now. We believe this to be the right course to take."

House Speaker Gretchen LeWolf also issued a statement about the agreement and the statement had undertones of anger.

"While we most definitely reached the tentative agreement to have him end his reelection bid, and allow him to carry out the remainder of his term," said Gretchen LeWolf. "I am still angered that he abused his power and sexual assaulted a woman. When we made the agreement he signed an affidavit saying he won't leave the country until he leaves the Senate. This was put in place to ensure he couldn't hurt anyone else overseas and here in this country. We are ending our impeachment inquiry."

Nationalist Senatorial Candidate Tom Brosnik announced that he was hopeful that he could defeat the incumbent, but says he is changing his strategy to win the second seat of the Senate, which is currently held by Senator Rigg.

"I feel this decision should have been made by a vote, whether he should continue his role as a Senator or be impeached," said Tom Brosnik. "I agree that he should end his bid for reelection and glad he did, however I would have really liked to defeated him. But the agreement they made was positive and I hope he learns that sexual assault is not okay."

RUFUS - In a surprise announcement, Embattled Senator, Joey Rigg(R-NL2) said that he would not resign, but would leave Congress at the end of his current term. Rigg reached an agreement with Senate and House leadership that would allow him to finish off his term, and he announced that he would not continue his campaign for third term. He also agreed to not leave the country until he leaves office.

The meeting also takes place just hours after Senator Rigg says he won't resign.

"We are very aware of the gravity of the ongoing situation with Senator Rigg," said Senate Majority Leader Larry Cofelt. "Both the Senate Minority leader and myself know this and are working quickly to find ways to remove him from his position in a legal and constitutional manner. Whether that be through impeachment, or through a continuing Senate resolution to keep him "suspended until the next election is held."

Senators who support his removal vary from members of the Nationalist Party as well as the Republican party. Senator Benjamin Morris(R-NS) said that no person should be subjected to sexual assault of sexual misconduct.

"We don't condone that as Republicans and more so as human beings with wives, sisters and daughters," said Senator Morrison. "While we don't know the entire story, it is safe to say that Judge Lisa Davis, a Republican appointed judge mind you, found that there is a real case here. It concerns me that remaining in power will allow him to abuse his power as a Senator to gain a sexual advantage on others. He must go."

Senator Rigg, was accused by an American prostitute of inappropriate touching that she said was not discussed nor consented to. According to a complaint and lawsuit filed in a Jesstopian federal court, she claims that the two participated in sexual activity but when she wanted to leave, he forcibly put his hand down her skirt, and made crude and disparaging comments to her.

For the first time since the lawsuit was filed, Victoria Danesh, the prostitute who was sexually assaulted by Rigg, is speaking out and has expressed that she can not discuss certain things related to the investigation, lawsuit and legal proceedings.

"It was traumatizing. It was uncalled for. It was inappropriate," said Victoria Danesh. "The things he said, which unfortunately are not allowed to be said until the trial will forever be engraved into my brain. He is a monster with unchecked power, that he should not have access to. My hope is I get the 15 million, and he is 15 million poorer. He belongs in jail, away from any female in this country."

NEWS 28 - Senator Joey Rigg is now facing an impeachment inquiry from the House of the People, spearheaded by Speaker Gretchen LeWolf, and other House Republicans and Nationalists. She addressed the House at around 5:45 this morning. She also appointed the Inquiry Committee.

"I know its very early in the morning and I appreciate you all being here this morning to listen to these proceedings, because I feel that we must hold our Congressmembers, whether they be a Senator or a Representative to the highest standards possible, and deliver results for the people we Represent," said House Speaker Gretchen LeWolf. "Senator Joey Rigg, a Republican didn't hold himself to the same standards when he took a trip to New York City, that was paid for by the Jesstopian Tax payer, on a vacation too, funded by the Jesstopian taxpayer."

You could see the room's attitudes shift as she spoke. Republican Representatives started getting rowdy while Nationalists were heard saying quiet.

"Today I am introducing an impeachment inquiry which result in the establishment of bipartisan impeachment committee to look into ways to file articles of impeachment and ensure an effective vote," continued LeWolf. "I am appointing Representatives, Nancy Brackland(N), David Sparick(R), David Roland(N), Henry Baith(N), Sarah Riverton(R), and Marcus Moyan(R) to the committee who will oversee, the impeachment inquiry process. This issue must be investigated and I know their will be an investigation that will find ways to prevent this unethical behavior from happening again."

The House will launch the investigation and the impeachment if the inquiry investigation finds due cause to file articles of impeachment against Senator Rigg.

The Senate has not made any statement regarding any investigation or impeachment process that it may file. Senate Majority Leader Larry Cofelt has also not responded to our request for comment. Rigg has been gaining mounted pressure from members of his own party to resign. Jay Laylin, has also made that call for him to resign.

You could see the room's attitudes shift as she spoke. Republican Representatives started getting rowdy while Nationalists were heard saying quiet.

"Today I am introducing an impeachment inquiry which result in the establishment of bipartisan impeachment committee to look into ways to file articles of impeachment and ensure an effective vote," continued LeWolf. "I am appointing Representatives, Nancy Brackland(N), David Sparick(R), David Roland(N), Henry Baith(N), Sarah Riverton(R), and Marcus Moyan(R) to the committee who will oversee, the impeachment inquiry process. This issue must be investigated and I know their will be an investigation that will find ways to prevent this unethical behavior from happening again."

The House will launch the investigation and the impeachment if the inquiry investigation finds due cause to file articles of impeachment against Senator Rigg.

The Senate has not made any statement regarding any investigation or impeachment process that it may file. Senate Majority Leader Larry Cofelt has also not responded to our request for comment. Rigg has been gaining mounted pressure from members of his own party to resign. Jay Laylin, has also made that call for him to resign.

NEWS 28 - Survivors of the September 11 attacks in New York City 23 years ago were invited to the Nationalist House and had a private sit down conversation with President John McCallum about the attacks and the effects they had on them.

Senate leaders also issued their own moments of silence for the victims of the terrorist attack on the WTC. They issued their moments of silence to be conducted from 8:46 - 8:47.

NEWS 28 - The United States Of Jesstopia will begin removing military troops from Ukraine in a three phase process beginning with Jesstopian citizens, Jesstopian Nationalist, and civilian workers. These individuals will be advised to leave their Ukraine homes and meet at an undisclosed location where they will then be lifted back to the United States Of Jesstopia.

President McCallum has made it clear that the withdrawal process would begin on September 1, 2024, and that no alternate dates would be provided. September 1 was selected to ensure that all plans are in place and the process is smooth.

Just like if you fail to pay your electric bills, your electric gets turned off, if Ukraine fails to pay its military support bills, that support is cut off. It's really common sense."

RUFUS - The Jesstopian Supreme Court has struck down the 2024 Adult Content Ban that has plagued the country with protests. The court issued today that the ban could not stand as it "violated constitutionally protected media content," and "violated the rights of media production companies and the Jesstopia people."

"As an institution of justice and law, we must look at how and why such ban violates such rights, and what the Federal Government must do to protect those very rights enshrined in our Nation's constitution," said Chief Justice Hawthrodd. "We have all agreed that President McCallum's signature of the ban into law, violates his oath of office and the law can not stand, in any capacity."

The Supreme Court sent their opinion to Congress and the Nationalist House. The Supreme Court issued that the law must be reversed within 30 days in order to comply with Federal Law. The Department Of Justice has already implemented policies to block the Supreme Court's decision, but Congress has already begun its process to lessen the restrictive nature of the ban.

"I think it's disappointing that the Supreme Court judged in favor of getting rid of the child-protecting content ban," said Senate Majority Leader Larry Cofelt. "We must continue to protect children across this country from the harsh and sexual nature of adult media content. That is what the law is doing, but we must reverse course as it has been deemed unconstitutional."

Under Jesstopia Federal law, a motion can be pressed by the Supreme Court to force Congress and the President to quickly act, to address any one of its decisions, as is not the case in the US. This gives the Jesstopia Supreme Court a great degree of power and works in conjunction with the Federal Constitution.

RUFUS - One day after the Nationalist Party single handedly overrode Republican contest to banning adult content online, Republican lawmakers are appealing to the Supreme Court, angry over the Nationalist lawmakers overstepping their boundaries, citing violations of the Federal Constitution.

"The fact that the Nationalist Party just overrode us in an attempt to push their agenda, is frightening," said Senate Minority Leader Harry Rodham. "If they can just simply override us, and the content protections that most media has under our constitution, they will go farther than to just take your right to free media away. We will continue to fight this and ensure that Jesstopians can watch whatever content they want, whenever they want."

The Republicans have called for several Nationalist lawmakers to resign, including Senate Majority Leader Larry Cofelt, House Speaker Gretchen LeWolf and Deputy House Speaker Matthew Carrington as well as 15 Nationalist lawmakers.

"We cannot be silenced with a Nationalist majority in both houses," said Republican Senator David Roma. "Nationalists in both chambers of Congress are going to continue to slowly take more and more rights away from Jesstopian citizens and won't stop until we get to the point of dictatorship. President McCallum is complicit in this and he should reverse course, as he calls on Benjamin Netanyahu to do. The Nationalists are done, and will lose control of the Nationalist House in November. We must ensure that our nation remains powerful, free and fair."

The Nationalist Party continues to push policy out, being able to override Republican protest and the only thing they can do is hope voters will turnout and give them a grip on some power and control of at least one chamber of Congress.

RUFUS - Today marked the final SOTU that President McCallum would give as President, before an election will be held to determine who would take his job on November 16, 2024, to become the 3rd President Of The United States Of Jesstopia.

But as his time in power slowly closes in, he continues to carry out his duties as President, and that is the State of the Union address which is constitutionally required every year, to be given to a joint session of Congress at the start of the new session of Congress.

During his 2024 SOTU, President McCallum gave an update to the Hamas-Israeli war, that has been raging on since October, and provided that he would not send any further troops back into war within Ukraine or Israel. He explained how his administration was finding a way to pull funding from other non-essential agencies to support Ukraine, without taking a dollar from the Jesstopian Tax Payers.

He also discussed the steps the McCallum Administration are taking to reduce inflation, lower food and drug costs, and improve living conditions in low income neighborhoods. He also focused the topic of homelessness, that he issued would be fixed by the time he left office in 2024.

He promised to finish out his Presidency strong, and says he is devoted to completing the job he set out to do in 2020, when on that fateful fall day, he unexpectedly was forced to take on the role as Jesstopia's 2nd President. He finished out his SOTU, by declaring Congress open for its 83rd Session of Congress.

He ended the entire SOTU, by thanking Nationalist and Republican lawmakers for their hard work, where he received applause from the entire Congressional chamber. He was walked out by House Speaker Gretchen LeWolf, and Senate Majority Leader Larry Cofelt.

RUFUS TIMES - President John McCallum has continued to avoid answering questions about what happened on October 29, when six missiles struck a former Hamas compound that killed over 100 kids, who were likely hiding from the terrorist group.

Even as calls for him to resign strengthen, he remains committed to staying in power and avoiding questions related to the incident. Over the course of the last week and half, he has been bombarded with questions related to the event but has continued to avoid the questions.

But during a press conference he quickly silenced media reporters who tried to ask about the incident in Gaza.

"We are not here to ask about the ongoing Congressional investigation into October 29, we are here about my ongoing efforts to get Joe Cooke elected Governor of Mesa," said President McCallum. "So for any press member that wants to ask about the ongoing trial, then don't stand up to ask it. I will not be answering it."

The President refuses to answer questions and for the murder of 190 kids and babies, and the Republicans are using this a fuel to power their campaigns for President in 2024.

"As the president continues to fail to answer for his mishandling of the Gaza airstrike, the Republicans are planning to take the Nationalist House from us in 2024," said Senate Majority Leader Larry Cofelt. "The president needs to lead his nation, and put his power where it matters. He needs to answer questions. No innocent man has ever remained silent on an issue that he has been involved in."
