NEWS 28 - As Polton King Georgie V's coronation takes place in less than 2 days, the Kingdom is preparing to see a fairly popular King get his crown officially. The Kingdom has had mixed feelings about the coronation, but the main focus has been that President John McCallum won't be attending.
"While King Georgie is disappointed, he is very understanding of the circumstances regarding his inability to make it, but he has sent his warmest congratulations, and best wishes," said Larry Naussar, the King's new personal aid. "We look forward to seeing Mrs. McCallum and Press Secretary Joshua Smite."
On the cusp of the coronation, many activities are currently underway at Duke Palace, but even the planning phase is still in its mid-stage. The Palace said that "all events and activities, as well as the dress-wear, is still being coordinated," and also said that the "King opted for a more simple dress style and he will only bare his crown and a stylish suit that he will use during the coronation on October 5."
However, several foreign dignitaries have declined the invitation to go to the coronation or are unable to attend due to national obligations or were told not to attend altogether.
US President Joe Biden was one of the world leaders not invited to the coronation and told First Lady Jill Biden not to come. Former US President And Former First Lady Melania Trump were asked but they declined due to obligations in the US regarding Trump's legal battles.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau declined the invite but said that one of his cabinet ministers would attend in his place. He wished the Poltian King a successful reign and congratulated him.
French President Emmanuel Macron was invited but the invitation was not well-received by him. He reportedly threw the invitation into a puddle outside his presidential residence.
Mexican President López Obrador said he wouldn't attend the coronation due to Polton's heavy ties with many enemies of Mexico.
Prime Minister Fredrick Ricketts of Cambridge said he'd attend the coronation but specific requirements would need to be met, something the King was unable to provide. Ricketts will no longer be attending the coronation.
President McCallum, as mentioned before was invited and was planning on going, but due to an injury in a Nationalist House fall, he'd be unable to attend. He is sending his wife, First Honorable Lady, Amber McCallum. She's flying out to Polton tomorrow to meet the King before his big day on October 5, 2023.
Other foreign dignitaries weren't asked including German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, North Korean Leader Kim Jung Un, and Chinese President Xi Jinping were also not invited.
