President John McCallum Delivers his farewell address ahead of his exit from the Nationalist House tomorrow afternoon. The president gave the address at 9:00 AM this morning.
NEWS 28 - President McCallum will depart the Nationalist House tomorrow afternoon following the inauguration of Jay Laylin and Cole Bindle at noon. During his farewell address to the nation, he reflected on his time in office and the work he accomplished over the last four years.
In his speech to the nation, he said that continued peace is needed to ensure the continuation of democracy across the world. He appealed to the Jesstopian people to end the political violence that has sparked major events across the globe.
He touched on the COVID-19 pandemic, and his administration's approach to addressing the global health crisis. COVID-19 was a very defining moment in Jesstopian history and that was one of the main points he touched on during his farewell address.
"COVID-19 was a defining moment in Jesstopian history, and our administration worked hard to quickly crush the pandemic, by closing our borders, masking our students and ensuring that COVID did not spread," said President McCallum. "We worked with schools across this country to find alternatives to in person learning, something that we contribute to the end of the COVID-related closings and end of the pandemic. We worked hard with our Federal Health Officials, ensuring that vaccinations were quickly distributed, something that Former President Joe Diester ensured continued to be consistent and timely. We continued to address new strands, and ensured that the vaccines were able to fight the new strand."
He touched on the economic policy of his administration focusing on the effects inflation had on families across the country.
"On the economy, over the last four years of my presidency, I was able to create over 2.5 million new jobs. I created more manufacturing jobs than any other leader before me, and ensured that they were able to establish, without fear of retaliation, unions that protected these workers," continued President McCallum. "I signed over six bills strengthening the precious metals industry and began issuing tariffs on imported metals from foreign nations. These tariffs saw the United States Of Jesstopia earn over 559 billion dollars in precious metal sales to foreign countries between 2020 and now."
He touched briefly on his administration's work for veterans, citing that he spent more on military veteran healthcare and mental health care programs than any other leader previously.
"We also took care of our veterans, by implementing spending of over 100 billion annually to services that are important to our military veterans," said McCallum. "We continue to ensure that Veterans get major tax breaks every year they file. On average, vets receive at least 10,000 back in taxes and at most 50,000 annually."
School safety had been the top priority for President McCallum throughout the four years he was in office. He explained the steps he took to ensure students don't need to fear going to school.
"On School Safety, our administration took the biggest steps towards securing our schools, ensuring fundamental rights of students were protected and ensured that students don’t have to fear going to school and don’t have to worry if they will be killed where they learn," McCallum continued. "In 2022, I signed the largest school safety system overhaul of any other leader of this country. We are continuing to fund school safety programs to our schools and that is one of the greatest accomplishments of my administration. Our children are the future of this country and we must ensure their safety is top of mind."
He later touted his Judicial Reform record, citing more accountability for law enforcement officials who abuse the power of their badge and position, including related to black related shootings.
"On Judicial Reform, my administration worked to ensure that Law Enforcement were held to account for major actions, including the shooting deaths of black Jesstopians, corruption within agency walls, and to flush out corrupt Attorney Generals and District Attorney’s who failed to prosecute cases." McCallum said.
He finally touted his border record, citing major changes still needed to ensure the national security of Jesstopia. He touched on the need to end the hoards of illegal immigrants entering the country.
"On The Border, my administration aimed to stop the hoards of illegal immigrants who came across our borders. Over 250,000 were arrested and deported back to their home countries. The Jesstopian Border Protection Agency, arrested over 2.5 million illegal immigrants and seized over 2.5 million pounds worth of drugs," said the President. "Our agents also seized more than 429,000 high power weapons including AR-15s, and high power rifles. 76,000 home raids were conducted between 2021 and 2023, and between 2023 and 2024 over 1.5 million homes were raided resulting in hundreds of thousands of arrests. We continued to push for more secured borders, by enacting stricter measures and stricter entry guidelines including biometric details being entered into a federal system. We created hundreds of border entry policies aimed at revoking access to our country."
He touched on his administration's commitment to the LGBTQ Community and listed the changes he made to effect the community positively.
"On LGBTQ, our administration has done more to extend and expand rights of LGBTQ Jesstopians than any leader before me. We’ve ensured protections that would ensure that harassment and discrimination could not happen in the work setting and ensure that LGBTQ workers had unalienable rights in the workplace. We’ve also pushed to ensure that harassment in schools, churches and other public settings could not happen. This is a fact we are proud of," explained McCallum. "We’ve expanded the number of services and programs available for Transgender Jesstopians, including access to gender affirming services and care services. We’ve pushed state’s to adopt an accept-all mentality and ensured that states that lean heavily against the Transgender and Gender Affirming care could not take those rights away from citizens there. We have worked so hard to protect these individuals and I hope that they continue to be protected long after I am gone."
On Ukraine, he expressed the extreme need to continue to support the defense of democracy but did touch on the Jesstopian withdrawal from Ukraine.
"On Ukraine, the tough decision to push the United States Of Jesstopia into war in defense of Ukraine was not taken lightly. We weighed our options and the only feasible action we could take is to declare war on and condemn Russia. We sent over 200 Billion Dollars to the country and 65 billion dollars worth of military equipment. Our decision to send that much comes from the ideological fact that a Democratic nation was attacked by a dictator-nation," stated the president. "On July 28, 2024, when I decided to pull out of Ukraine, it was a relatively easy decision. Ukraine violated over 6 financial agreements that were previously established, and the goals we asked Ukraine to hit, were not met, leading to a decisive decision to withdraw from Ukraine. They defaulted on over 889 Million dollar contracts, and failed to hit military goals outlined by the Jesstopian Congress, and my office. Ukraine will be held to pay back every penny we sent over there in monetary and physical assets."
Towards the end of his speech, he honored the victims of the July 2022 bombings.
"We must never forget the victims of the July 2022 bombings, in New Shire, North Lorray and in Mesa. These events remind us that together, we are stronger. Together, we can defeat evil," said an impassioned McCallum. "Together we can make our country better and safer for our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. This country has so much untapped potential and I know with the right leaders, we can make that potential shine. I am proud to be a Jesstopian citizen, and I look forward to what the future holds. Without this country, the world can not progress democracy, saving the world and ensuring that we maintain world peace."
He went on to thank his Vice Presidents, family, supporters for their hard work and dedication for the past four years, before touching on his relationship with Cambridge and its Prime Minister that he appointed.
"To Cambridge Prime Minister Fredrick Ricketts, it is my hope that our countries continue to work together to push world peace and ensure global stability in the world of unknowns. It has been my greatest privilege to work beside you to create a strong country, and to ensure trans-national security," said McCallum.
"Both of our countries are stronger because we have continued to work together, building up Cambridge’s military power, nuclear cabinet and ensuring domestic partnership. We as a nation support your country as not just an ally by a very close friend and I believe the partnership will last for thousands of years."
He then honored the late Sam Simon, who served as his Vice president, thanking him for his selfless dedication to the United States Of Jesstopia. He further thanked his family for their support during his presidency, something he has previously said, made the job easier. He closed out his speech wishing President-Elect Jay Laylin and Vice President-Elect Cole Bindle the best in their tenure.
"Now, I want to thank each and everyone of you again, for your support and dedication to my presidency, and wish you all the best in the future," exclaimed McCallum. "This country is great and will continue to be as great as we allow it to be. My prayers and best wishes are with President-Elect Jay Laylin and Vice President-Elect Cole Bindle."
He thanked the country for its support, before closing out his speech.
"I know Jesstopia has the power, energy and the best people in the world, and let’s keep being that. We must fight evil, encompass good and fight racism and anti-LGBT rhetoric. Let’s be the nation that historians will say has been ideologically better than the United States of America. Thank you all for everything during these last four years," finished McCallum. "May god bless you, may god bless President-elect Jay Laylin. May god bless Vice President-elect Cole Bindle and may god bless the United States Of Jesstopia."
