NEWS 28 - As support for Joey Rigg wanes and it comes increasing unlikely that he will confirmed by the Senate, Rigg is announcing that he will withdraw his name from the nomination, opening the door for President Laylin to replace him with a more popular candidate.
Senator Rigg announced that he would still seek the North Lorray Governor’s office in 2026, despite the allegations still being litigated in court. Rigg says he wants to ensure that President Laylin’s administration can continue pushing his agenda forward without any roadblock and he says his confirmation struggle would be a road block.
”As honored as I am to have been nominated to lead as the Interior Secretary, I don’t see any way forward towards a confirmation vote in favor of my nomination,” said Senator Joey Rigg. “I think right now, with Nationalists in control of both chambers of Congress, it is best that I focus my attention to supporting Laylin’s next Secretary of the Interior nominee. I just won’t have enough votes to support my nomination. I look forward to confirming his next nominee. I will focus on my gubernatorial bid in 2026.”
President Laylin’s has yet to put up his nominee but sources close to the President said that he is considering his next nominee. The president did thank Rigg for stepping aside and called him a “great patriot.” The president t is not expected to issue any further statement regarding his withdrawal.
Many speculate that President Laylin may select another Senator to fill the role, but that has yet to be confirmed as of right now, and there are plenty of options the president could consider. Republican Senators announced that they would not likely support Rigg’s nomination, so it will be any one’s guess who he puts up next.
