NEWS 28 - As support for Joey Rigg wanes and it comes increasing unlikely that he will confirmed by the Senate, Rigg is announcing that he will withdraw his name from the nomination, opening the door for President Laylin to replace him with a more popular candidate.

Senator Rigg announced that he would still seek the North Lorray Governor’s office in 2026, despite the allegations still being litigated in court. Rigg says he wants to ensure that President Laylin’s administration can continue pushing his agenda forward without any roadblock and he says his confirmation struggle would be a road block.

The Senate may have a hard time confirming Rigg as he currently is tangled in legal battles that resulted in him announcing his retirement from the Senate, and dropping out of his reelection bid. But Republican Senators say they would fully back President Laylin's pick, claiming the "courts have not ruled on whether or not he did anything wrong."

I have always been about the people, for the people and serving the great people of North Lorray has been the forefront to which I built my political career," said Senator Joey Rigg. "That is why today I announce, proudly, that I am seeking to defeat Governor Linda Lee and be elected as the 22nd Governor Of North Lorray for the first ever four year term of North Lorray. "I think that Basett possesses very limited knowledge on aviation topics, and that knowledge will limit her ability to investigate aviation crashes and incidents," said Senator Joey Rigg. "We must ensure that we are consistent with who we let lead the Jesstopian Aviation Safety Administration. I don't think Republicans will support her nomination for JASA director."

"I'd say she is more than qualified for the job. Senator Rigg is set to leave Congress disgraced, and is trying to damage the administration on his way out."

He also warned of the upcoming election and ensuring that voters support the Republicans in their attempt to gain control of one or more chambers of Congress, as they seek to end the unilateral control of Jesstopia's Congress, a unilateral control they held since the founding of Jesstopia in 1806.

"He is the only Republican Senator to be likely to vote against her nomination. Go figure," continued the President's statement. "I remind Senate Republicans that we have a major election coming up and a mandate from the Jesstopian people to fill the Federal Government with officials who support our administrative goals. Let this be a warning for all Republicans who plan on voting against her nomination."

Senate Minority Leader Harry Rodham said that he was working to rally Senate Republicans around Basett's nomination as the Senate prepares to vote on her confirmation next Friday.

"I really hope that our caucus remembers we are in the minority, and we need to support the President's nominations to make our government more efficient, to provide safer skies for Jesstopians, and to ensure the right people are in office," said Minority Leader Harry Rodham. "I have been working to rally Senators around Karen Basett. We will get her confirmed."

The President says he is hoping that she is confirmed as quickly as possible. "I have officially stepped down from my roles in the multiple committees I am apart of and will help lead the appointment of the next Senator to take over those three committee assignments," said Senator Joey Rigg. "While I have diligently and honorably served to better these committees, I know as part of the agreement I made with Senate Leadership, so that I could keep my Senate seat until 2025. I need to step down to focus on the final year of my term and hope to carry out my final duties as a Senator until November 2025."

Simply put, we can't support a criminal and sexual abuser. He has disgraced his constituents, this great Chamber, this party and this country. We can't and we won't support this kind of act. We call on Senator Rigg to resign."

Other Senators have echoed the same sentiment, calling Larry Cofelt and Gretchen LeWolf's decision to allow him to finish out the last year of his term, a "travesty," "insult," and "disrespectful" to victims of sexual abuse and assault. Several senators of both parties are calling on the Senate Majority Leader to push for his expulsion permanently from the Senate chamber.

"We have already been told that he will finish off his term and leave the Senate at the end of this term, and will be required to not seek a third term of office," said Sen. Ashley Tillerson. "We don't want him in our chamber, near our women senators or in this government. We must not glorify this man by allowing him to continue in this Senate."

He has already issued that he suspended his 2025 Senate campaign and will no longer be in that race. He also agreed to remain in Jesstopia until he leaves office.

The agreement was made between House Speaker Gretchen LeWolf, Senate Majority Leader Larry Cofelt and Senate Minority Leader Harry Rodham, who hasn't made a statement about the agreement.

Senate Majority Leader Larry Cofelt issued a statement about the agreement made between the Senate and the House.

"Early this morning both the Senate and the House agreed to a tentative agreement with Senator Rigg that will allow him to remain in power until 2025, and that agreement includes him not seeking reelection, leaving Congress at the end of his term and remaining in the United States Of Jesstopia until his term expires," said Senate Majority Leader Larry Cofelt. "This agreement allows us to focus on what's important and that is delivering for the Jesstopian people. We won't have to focus our attention and energy on finding his replacement and voting on that now. We believe this to be the right course to take."

House Speaker Gretchen LeWolf also issued a statement about the agreement and the statement had undertones of anger.

"While we most definitely reached the tentative agreement to have him end his reelection bid, and allow him to carry out the remainder of his term," said Gretchen LeWolf. "I am still angered that he abused his power and sexual assaulted a woman. When we made the agreement he signed an affidavit saying he won't leave the country until he leaves the Senate. Nationalist Senatorial Candidate Tom Brosnik announced that he was hopeful that he could defeat the incumbent, but says he is changing his strategy to win the second seat of the Senate, which is currently held by Senator Rigg.

"I feel this decision should have been made by a vote, whether he should continue his role as a Senator or be impeached," said Tom Brosnik. "I agree that he should end his bid for reelection and glad he did, however I would have really liked to defeated him. But the agreement they made was positive and I hope he learns that sexual assault is not okay."

RUFUS - In a surprise announcement, Embattled Senator, Joey Rigg(R-NL2) said that he would not resign, but would leave Congress at the end of his current term. Rigg reached an agreement with Senate and House leadership that would allow him to finish off his term, and he announced that he would not continue his campaign for third term. He also agreed to not leave the country until he leaves office.

Senate Majority Leader Larry Cofelt issued a statement about the agreement made between the Senate and the House.

"Early this morning both the Senate and the House agreed to a tentative agreement with Senator Rigg that will allow him to remain in power until 2025, and that agreement includes him not seeking reelection, leaving Congress at the end of his term and remaining in the United States Of Jesstopia until his term expires," said Senate Majority Leader Larry Cofelt. "This agreement allows us to focus on what's important and that is delivering for the Jesstopian people. We won't have to focus our attention and energy on finding his replacement and voting on that now. We believe this to be the right course to take."

House Speaker Gretchen LeWolf also issued a statement about the agreement and the statement had undertones of anger.

"While we most definitely reached the tentative agreement to have him end his reelection bid, and allow him to carry out the remainder of his term," said Gretchen LeWolf. "I am still angered that he abused his power and sexual assaulted a woman. When we made the agreement he signed an affidavit saying he won't leave the country until he leaves the Senate. NEWS 28 - Senate leaders are preparing to convene to find a way to oust Senator Joey Rigg on the cusp of his sexual assault allegations and after a federal judge granted that the case has legal standing and grounds to go forward. The meeting also takes place just hours after Senator Rigg says he won't resign.

"We are very aware of the gravity of the ongoing situation with Senator Rigg," said Senate Majority Leader Larry Cofelt. "Both the Senate Minority leader and myself know this and are working quickly to find ways to remove him from his position in a legal and constitutional manner. Whether that be through impeachment, or through a continuing Senate resolution to keep him "suspended until the next election is held."

Senators who support his removal vary from members of the Nationalist Party as well as the Republican party. Senator Benjamin Morris(R-NS) said that no person should be subjected to sexual assault of sexual misconduct.

"We don't condone that as Republicans and more so as human beings with wives, sisters and daughters," said Senator Morrison. "While we don't know the entire story, it is safe to say that Judge Lisa Davis, a Republican appointed judge mind you, found that there is a real case here. It concerns me that remaining in power will allow him to abuse his power as a Senator to gain a sexual advantage on others. He must go."

Senator Rigg, was accused by an American prostitute of inappropriate touching that she said was not discussed nor consented to. According to a complaint and lawsuit filed in a Jesstopian federal court, she claims that the two participated in sexual activity but when she wanted to leave, he forcibly put his hand down her skirt, and made crude and disparaging comments to her.

For the first time since the lawsuit was filed, Victoria Danesh, the prostitute who was sexually assaulted by Rigg, is speaking out and has expressed that she can not discuss certain things related to the investigation, lawsuit and legal proceedings.

"It was traumatizing. It was uncalled for. It was inappropriate," said Victoria Danesh. "The things he said, which unfortunately are not allowed to be said until the trial will forever be engraved into my brain. He is a monster with unchecked power, that he should not have access to. My hope is I get the 15 million, and he is 15 million poorer. He belongs in jail, away from any female in this country."

NEWS 28 - Senator Joey Rigg is now facing an impeachment inquiry from the House of the People, spearheaded by Speaker Gretchen LeWolf, and other House Republicans and Nationalists. She addressed the House at around 5:45 this morning. She also appointed the Inquiry Committee.

"I am appointing Representatives, Nancy Brackland(N), David Sparick(R), David Roland(N), Henry Baith(N), Sarah Riverton(R), and Marcus Moyan(R) to the committee who will oversee, the impeachment inquiry process. This issue must be investigated and I know their will be an investigation that will find ways to prevent this unethical behavior from happening again."

The House will launch the investigation and the impeachment if the inquiry investigation finds due cause to file articles of impeachment against Senator Rigg.

The Senate has not made any statement regarding any investigation or impeachment process that it may file. Senate Majority Leader Larry Cofelt has also not responded to our request for comment. Rigg has been gaining mounted pressure from members of his own party to resign. Jay Laylin, has also made that call for him to resign.
