This ultimately will unlock the full powers of the Speakership to allow him to legislate and preside over house proceedings.

"Today I will file a motion to fill the Speaker's chair, nominating Matthew Carrington has the Speaker of the House, until the House convenes for a secondary vote for Speaker in September. He has proven that he is a worthy leader in the four days he has served as Speaker Pro Tempore. If the House approves this bill, then a vote can therefore be triggered, and a Speaker can occupy the Speaker's chair before the September election. Calls for an early vote reverberated throughout the House in the weeks leading up to LeWolf's departure from the office, but she refused to hold that election, something she as Speaker could do legally. Representatives said that a vote to fill the Speaker's chair should have happened in December. It never happened.

"I think it is important that we get him into the Speaker's chair, so he can wield the full power of the Speakership," continued Harris. "It is very important that we have a steady incumbent in the Speaker's chair so that we can go into the election ahead of the Republican party."

Harris is set to lay the motion onto the table during Thursday's meeting of the House, and he is set to table the motion on the Speaker Pro Tempore's desk who will then decide whether or not to push to vote onto the House floor. If the motion passes, Carrington will be come the 33rd Speaker of the House. If it fails, he remains as Speaker Pro Tempore.

In a brief submitted to the House leadership, including her former Deputy, Speaker Pro Tempore Matthew Carrington, she accuses the president of inciting mass targeting of illegals by Jesstopians, and says that his rhetoric has led to the injury of over 25,000 illegal immigrants. She says that by spewing hate filled rhetoric, he contributed to thousands of illegals being terrorized and harmed.

"I am asking that an impeachment inquiry be started into President Jay Laylin, for leading in, spewing hate-filled rhetoric that has led the injury of at least 25,000 illegal immigrant who were sent back to their countries of origins," said Representative Gretchen LeWolf. "I ask Speaker Pro Temp, to move for a floor vote on an impeachment inquiry of President Jay Laylin, who led to mass targeting of illegals, leading to violent attacks on these individuals."

When asked about her attempts at an impeachment inquiry, Speaker Pro Tempore Matthew Carrington said that it was her right to push for a vote, and that he would leave it up to House members, and said he doesn't support the impeachment, and says plenty of other members of the House don't support it either.

"While I personally don't agree with the attempts to impeach the President, she has every right to bring the motion to the floor, as a member of the House," said Speaker Pro Tempore Matthew Carrington. "I believe that as Speaker Pro Tempore, it is my duty to ensure all members of the House are heard, and not just those I agree with. If she brings the inquiry to the House floor and members agree to voting on it, I will support their decision as my duty entails. Many Nationalists won't support the impeachment but again, it is up to house members."

She knows that this impeachment attempt will go no where, and I am ready to stand up against it."

Representative Gina Horschel defended President Laylin against LeWolf claiming that she was just in it for retaliation for being forced to step down as Speaker for her anti-Laylin rhetoric.

"The President is less than 2 month into his presidency and he has introduced legislation that I don't necessarily agree with, but as President is his prerogative," said Horschel. "But LeWolf's attempt to 'get even' by means of impeachment don't hold any bearing or weight. She is just angered at the fact that she was forced to step down, because of the choice she made to knowingly and willingly prevent important border security legislation that would protect the national interest of Jesstopia and the people that live here. I will not support the impeachment effort. He's done absolutely nothing to warrant the process even being brought up."

Senate Majority Leader Larry Cofelt, an outspoke critic of President Laylin even called the move a shame, and harmful to the effective governance of Jesstopia.

"I am extremely disappointed in Representative Gretchen LeWolf's decision to move for an impeachment inquiry," said Leader Larry Cofelt. "She is effectively using the power she has to get retaliation against the President. I think it is a miscarriage of justice and power, and I will see to it that this impeachment inquiry is rejected. I call on my House leadership colleagues to do the same. It is a shame and harmful to the effective governance of our great land."

He says that while he is only Speaker Pro Tempore, he hopes to rally his caucus around supporting secure borders, lowering the cost of living and ensuring the homeland is secured from terrorists.

"We have a mandate from the Jesstopian people that should be clear as day that they didn't like the way things have been done," continued Carrington. "It was made clear when the people voted for our nation's very first head of state, and the very first Republican president in October. We can't forget that, and we must ensure we work for all people and not the people of Congress."

NEWS 28 - House Speaker Gretchen LeWolf is safe following shots being fired near her home. Law enforcement officials from the New Shire State Police quickly responded to the Speaker's neighborhood following several calls to police. New Shire State Police troopers were seen flooding the neighborhood arriving fast with lights and sirens, according to amateur footage.

The agency did say that they are conducting a full scale investigation and will work alongside the Federal Crimes Investigation Service due to the shooting involving a federal government official. New Shire State Police officials say that the shooting doesn't appear to be related to an assassination attempt or any violent crime against any person, but they say they will continue to investigate this shooting.

"We don't believe the shooting to be an attempt to harm the House Speaker," said New Shire State Police Commissioner Lee Adams. "But we can't rule everything out at this point and we will work with the FCIS to determine who the shooter was, what their motive was and if there is any imminent threat to her life."

FCIS Director Barry Wilkenson has said that he believes this to be a random shooting, similar to the one in the neighborhood of former President John McCallum.

"I am not concerned about the safety of Speaker LeWolf at this time," said FCIS Director Barry Wilkenson. "There doesn't appear to be bad intention behind the shots being fired. We are looking at all avenues, so like Commissioner Adams said, we can't rule it out all together at this time. We will file our initial findings in our initial report."

Speaker LeWolf has beefed up her security following the shooting, but says she feels just as safe as before. She told reporters that she is safe and doesn't feel unsafe in her home.

"After the shooting, New Shire State troopers came to my door to make sure I was okay," said Speaker Gretchen LeWolf. "I told them I was good, and was safe. I thank them for their quick response and wish them safety and security as they pursue the person responsible for the shooting. I feel as safe now as I did before the shooting happened."

Senators and Representatives return to work for the opening of the 84th Congress. They are set to kick off another year of legislating.

LeWolf who is set to step down as Speaker on January 5, thanked her colleagues for the opportunity to serve as the Speaker of the House.

Speaker LeWolf said that she would put several proposals up for a vote before she departs the speaker chair on January 5, and said that she would also allow Representatives to vote on proposals that she placed on the backburner before the 83rd Congress ended last month.

"I will put several proposals up for a vote, related to the proposals by President Jay Laylin that we were unable to vote on before the end of the previous Congress," said Speaker Gretchen LeWolf. "We have a lot of transitional work to do before I step down as Speaker on January 5, and I want to ensure that we have everything in order, before that transition happens. I will also continue fighting any major proposals by the President that aim to deport immigrants who are seeking asylum here. My last stand is to protect the vulnerable population."

Representatives are preparing for Deputy Speaker Matthew Carrington to take over as the Speaker Pro Tempore until September, when the House and Speaker elections take place. With the upcoming session, Speaker LeWolf is still facing a Senate Judiciary investigation related to her money laundering criminal trial in Rufus County Federal Court.

"The Speaker's time in office is coming to an end, so she is making the final push to reject any form of legislations or funding for border security, and that is really disgraceful," said Representative Allen Rupert. "She continues to promote rejecting any bill proposal by the President and my hope is that history will remember her as a coward in the House's highest office."

Congress has a long slate of items it needs to take care of in this Congress, but it is likely that the day that Carrington becomes Speaker Pro Tempore, that most of what the president is pushing will be voted on immediately.

"As I said, I will work for the Jesstopian people and not the interest of my own interests," said Deputy House Speaker Matthew Carrington. "I will put all proposals by the President up for a vote and won't back bench any proposal I don't agree with. The Speaker's job was to ensure that all votes were held in a timely and effective manner and she has failed as Speaker. We are working for the people that put us in Congress, and we owe it to them to be an effective and productive governing body. I look forward to a very productive 84th Congress and we hope to get legislation moving through both chambers of Congress and onto the President's desk."

Congress recessed for winter on December 15, 2024, and ended at its lowest point, with Speaker LeWolf being charged with money laundering. Then she ended up announcing she was stepping down as Speaker, later announcing that she would not be seeking reelection to her seat in the House. Growing backlash against the speaker began mounting when she announced that she would fight the Laylin administration every step of the way on border security and immigration reform.

Deputy House Speaker Matthew Carrington says he is hoping to unify the House, by promoting support of opposition bill and legislative proposals, foregoing previous precedents of 'ruling party dominates.' He said that he would work to ensure that Republicans had a fairer chance a proposing budgets, legislation, and ensuring they had a stronger voice on debate issues.

Many think that she is in serious trouble, and that the court has found severely clear evidence that she used her Finance company to launder money, and that the announcement comes before she is set to receive any type of formal sentence.

"I am honestly not surprised at all that she announced she wouldn't seek reelection," said Representative Braden Harris. "Her abrupt announcement of her departure from the Speaker's chair really should have been a sign that trouble was brewing in court. She had fought calls to resign for the better part of a few weeks, and survived two motions to vacate. So her career in the Speaker's office looked pretty good until she announced she was stepping down on December 14."

"I am dropping out of this race and will leave Congress at the end of my term in 2025. I hope and pray that whoever is my successor, can represent this great Congressional district. It has been a busy couple of weeks and I will ensure that this district is left in good hands. I feel that my legal troubles are causing too many problems for not only the chair of House Speaker but for my chair in the House. I have already submitted by order of withdrawal to the Federal Board Of Elections and my name will be removed from the ballots following their hearing."

There is still no word as to whether she has been found liable for any of the charges, and the courts have yet to hear evidence from the defense, related to her business. It is likely that those results won't come out until after the new year and even then, it isn't likely we'll see any charges be listed off until next year. Investigations are still ongoing, and Speaker LeWolf will still face her Senate Judiciary Committee to answer questions related to the allegations leveled against her.

There could be a special vote to allow him to become the Speaker of the House, but a majority of Republicans would likely not support his speakership."
