NEWS 28 - After a failed attempt to remove House Speaker Gretchen LeWolf, in the first of two rounds of voting, lawmakers in the House said that they will work to convince their colleagues that she "poses a real danger to the future of border security." They say they will hope to have ousted her by tomorrow evening.

"Well it is a disappointing outcome, we were hoping to have her ousted by the Sessions' end, but that didn't happen," said Representative Richard Sanchez. "We will work to rally Representatives around our cause, and hopefully we can help man Representatives see that she is no good for the country and will run the United States Of Jesstopia into the ground."

Representative and Former House Speaker Braden Harris says he was disappointed in the results as well and said that he is hopeful he can rally his Nationalist colleagues in order to get them to vote to oust House Speaker Gretchen LeWolf.

"I am disturbed that the vote couldn't break out of the closeness, as the Yays started off strong," said Rep. Braden Harris. "I will work until tomorrow night's second ouster vote, and my hope is that I can rally as many Nationalists to support vacating the chair. It is essential for the future of the protection of our country that she is removed from the Speakership."

The first round of voting yielded an almost even split between there being 213 yays compared to the 212 nays. A second round could be the final step to removing Speaker LeWolf from office. If the second vote fails to yield a majority to either remove or retain Speaker LeWolf, could result in a third vote. It is then said that if a fourth vote is needed, the motion will likely die on arrival to the floor where Representatives would have to review the motion and potentially forego any further attempts to remove her.

RUFUS - House Speaker Gretchen LeWolf has survived the first round of votes to remove her from power after no majority was strong enough to support the results of the first vote. This automatically requires the House to conduct a second vote on December 7, 2024.

According to the motion to vacate the Speaker’s chair filed by both members is a direct result of House Speaker Gretchen LeWolf failing to uphold her oath of office, and work to close and defend the borders of Jesstopia. Calls for her to ramp up border security efforts have failed, and that resulted in Deputy House Speaker to run to defeat her in the 2025 House Speaker Election.

“I think her failure to uphold her oath to defend the people of the United States Of Jesstopia from enemies of the state, to illegal aliens and terrorists, is what resulted in this motion to be filed by myself and Representative Sanchez,” said Representative Chris Rodgers. “We are working to push for better leadership that will work with both sides to shutdown our borders to illegal immigrants and protect our nation’s citizens. She failed as Speaker to do that and her blatant disregard for Jesstopia’s border protection and prosperity is clear and was made clearer when President Jay Laylin was elected the 3rd President Of The United States Of Jesstopia back in October.”

Other members of the Republican Party have vowed to vote to vacate the Speaker’s chair and place Matthew Carrington into the office as Speaker Pro Tempore until the 2025 House Speaker Election. Nationalist support has been growing with Representative Braden Harris and Representative Benjamin Folley expected to likely vote in favor of ousting Speaker LeWolf, a provision in the Jesstopian Constitution that has never been used before.

She is facing a rocky road to reelection to the Speakership in 2025, but says she will continue to do her job.

Speaker LeWolf has made it very apparent that she will fight any and all border security measures and immigration reform legislation proposed by Republican President Jay Laylin. Many of her own allies are calling it a harmful decision, and say they would like to see her more willingly to protect Jesstopia's borders from illegal immigrants who pose a great threat to Jesstopia's national security.

"It has come as no surprise that House Speaker Gretchen LeWolf is continuing to fight any and all border security measures that President Jay Laylin has attempted to get through to Congress," said Representative Paisley Harton. "She thinks because she is speaker, that she can just simply say, 'oh, we're not voting on that because I don't like it.' She can't do that. Her job as speaker is to ensure that all bills proposed by either chamber of Congress or by the President, must hit the floor of the House for a primary vote in a reasonable time frame. If she doesn't like a policy than she can have her opinion, but her sole opinion doesn't matter. The Representatives who are present have the right to vote on it and we are starting to see many of our Nationalist colleagues across the isle side with Republicans, and even agree that what she is doing to prevent secure borders is a violation of our sacred oath and her sacred oath of office to the speakership. I call on her to resign immediately."

Currently, 205 members of the House are set to vote for the border security plans of the president, but they say they need to get LeWolf out of the way. Without her, they can push forward with border security spending, and look at immigration reform bills proposed by the President and endorsed by several House Republicans and several Senate Republicans.

"I will not resign from the Speakership," said Speaker LeWolf. "If they want to try and stop me go ahead, but I will not allow unfair and biased and frankly racist policy against those trying to enter our country to escape persecution from authoritarian power," said LeWolf. "If that makes my job to prevent policy like this from being pushed then so be it. We are the land of the free and our country was and is continued to be built by immigrants of all walks of life."

Speaker LeWolf, according to undisclosed sources, say that Representatives are likely to bring up a motion to vacate the Speaker's chair late this morning, with several prominent leaders vowing to end her Speakership and put Deputy Speaker Matthew Carrington into the speaker's chair as Speaker Pro Tempore of the House. If this resolution passes, a whole majority of the House would be needed to oust LeWolf. Major Nationalist players have also joined Republicans in supporting the removal effort including Representative and former House Speaker Braden Harris, Representative Patty Wilcox.

NEWS 28 - Current Deputy House Speaker, Matthew Carrington late this evening announced that he was running for the House Speakership after frustrations with House Speaker Gretchen LeWolf for not supporting major and decent border and immigration policy, and for failing to allow the House to vote on President Laylin's 2024 Inflation Reduction Act until after the start of the 84th Congress.

His decision comes just after several of House Speaker Gretchen LeWolf’s decisions to not support any of President Jay Laylin’s border policies, and secondly, after she decided to push back a key vote until the start of the 84th Congress, which is scheduled to begin on January 1, 2025. His office says he is looking to distance himself from her lack of her support for securing the borders, which will save the lives of millions of Jesstopians.

While Deputy Speaker Carrington was not available for comment, his office did reach out and say that he was frustrated with the way Speaker LeWolf was handling the 2024 Inflation Reduction Act vote, moving to push it back until January 1, 2025, and for failing to support on immigration and border policy pushed through Congress by President Laylin.

“He has become very frustrated with the way Speaker LeWolf is dealing with President Jay Laylin’s border and immigration policy, by saying she will not support any of it, even if it is good,” said Dick Morgan, a spokesman for the Deputy Speaker. “He has made it clear that the Speaker has a duty to ensure border security, pushing through votes as soon as possible, and working for the Jesstopian people. Partisanship is something that violates her oath of office, and that is a major decision that has led Mr. Carrington to announce a bid for the Speakership.”

Further, Republicans and Nationalists say they would support a Carrington Speakership or a potential second Braden Harris Speakership. They said that Speaker LeWolf has become too accustomed to Nationalist leaders, and won’t budge in supporting border security of a Republican.

“I wholeheartedly believe that Speaker LeWolf needs to not seek another term in office,” said former House Speaker and current Representative Braden Harris. “She has lost the confidence of a major portion of the caucus and has completely lost Republican support altogether. She needs to reevaluate her positions, and maybe understand that her role is to just allow Representatives to vote for what they believe is best for this country, and to use her office to vote on major bills.”

Former House Speaker Vinny Montez, said that her obligation is to the people of the United States Of Jesstopia and not to her own personal feelings. He said that her actions show she can not be an effective Speaker and should step down.

“If Speaker LeWolf continues on the current trajectory, she will tank her political career, as she has already lost the confidence of Republican Representatives and a handful of Nationalist Representatives,” said former Speaker Vinny Montez. “She needs to work for the people, not work for her personal feelings. She has publicly expressed that she was disappointed in the outcome of the 2024 Presidential Election, and her failure to want to push through, in my opinion, very strong border and immigration policy on the part of President Jay Laylin. It’s a disgrace to the office.”

Several Republican Representatives are already seeking to vacate the Speaker chair, and if it passes, would pass the Speaker’s gavel to the Deputy Speaker, who would then become the Speaker Pro Tempore, until an election could be held.
