ALDEN - The Mesa Department Of Transportation and the Jesstopian Aviation Safety Administration are each issuing warnings to residents of Alden County and parts of Traviston, that explosions will be heard as construction crews work to remove a large hill that is blocking construction on Alden County International Airport continues, today.
"If residents have been following construction on Alden International Airport, they are likely aware of explosions expected today and throughout the week," said JASA Spokesperson Kelly Walna. "The explosions are expected to continue today, tomorrow and Monday, and we expect the final parts of the hills to be collapsed by Monday afternoon."
The work being done on the current construction of the main terminal building calls for the removal of hill known as Fort Hill. Fort Hill currently sits in the Western foothills of the Alden Mountain Range. Over 20 tons of rock and dirt will collapse into the ocean, with slight flooding expected as the rock makes contact with the water.
The Department Of Transportation is also warning residents who live near water in a 15 mile radius of the Airport construction site to expect shockwaves from the explosions. They can expect to have shaking of their houses.
