2026 New Shire Gubernatorial Election

NEWS 28 - Lorenzo Marley served for four years as the Commissioner of the New Shire State Police, and over 20 years in the law enforcement field. During that time he promoted safety strategies that help broker peace, ensure safety and provide adequate coverage. But with that experience, he announced that he was seeking election as New Shire's next Governor during the 2026 New Shire Gubernatorial Election. He is seeking to defeat Governor Lynn Rodgers, and hopes to nab the Republican nomination for Governor.

He went on to say that the police officers who risk their lives everyday, are having their hands tied behind their backs by the lack of support by the Rodgers administration. He voiced his concerns for the lack of accountability for criminals who cause harm to the people who reside legally here.

"I think its horrible that we are not learning from past mistakes and are allowing millions of illegals to receive hotel rooms, live in our cities, and are allowed to roam free," said Lorenzo Marley. "Under my leadership as the Commissioner of the New Shire State Police, we saw first hand the lack of backing from state and local officials and I aim to fix that, so that our men and women in law enforcement aren't restrained from doing their jobs. We have an illegal criminal problem, and Governor Rodgers doesn't seem to want to address it. That is why we need new leadership, one that has what it takes to make tough calls, work with federal partners to ensure Statewide safety, something interestingly enough, Nationalists have abandoned."

Marley's announcement seems to signal that start of the Republican Party's search for its next couple of very stronger contenders for the nomination, which would be announced in early-2026. Republicans are looking likely to capture the majority of at least one chamber of Congress, and several states during the 2024 Gubernatorial Election flipped the Governor's seat to Republican. Now that the Republicans control the Nationalist House, it is very likely that Marley or another Republican could flip New Shire red. If that is the case, other states may follow but that is not definitive, and he would need to really work hard to ensure that Republicans grasp control on the Governor's office.

Marley is scheduled to hold a press conference related to his recent announcement. He is expected to release his campaign websites and other merchandise when election season officially kicks off.

NEWS 28 - New Shire Comptroller and former New Shire Lt. Governor Fred Lacker is seeking to defeat incumbent Governor Lynn Rodgers during the 2026 New Shire Gubernatorial Election. He is the first Nationalist gubernatorial candidate that has tried to defeat an incumbent of their own party. He says he will launch his calendar for his campaign stops in a couple of months.

Lacker served as the 24th Lt. Governor Of New Shire from February 2022 until May 10, 2022. He was selected by then-New Shire Governor Thomas Cooke to replace embattled Lt. Governor Micheal Wendtz. He served for only three months and chose not to run on the Cooke ticket during the 2022 election.

Lacker ran and successfully won the office of New Shire State's comptroller during the 2024 New Shire Comptroller election in April 2024. Lacker had previously expressed his interest in potentially running for Governor Of New Shire, but hadn't publicly announced a run previously. He is set to meet with donors to help fund and support his campaign and push him to the top of the ticket, while simultaneously work to boot an incumbent governor from his own party out of power.

She promised to push for lower taxes, but under her, taxes increased 6%. She promised to protect New Shirens from high interest rates. Grocery costs have gradually gone up from under the Cooke Administration, something she promised to lower. Our state needs real effective change, and to do that, someone who has experience with an economic plan needs to be Governor. Lynn Rodgers continues to focus on mute policies, instead of working to lower costs for New Shirens, and increasing energy production within the State. Elect someone who knows what they are doing."

Since assuming office, Rodgers has been an avid outspoken critic of anti-LGBTQ rhetoric of President Laylin, so she continues to focus on fighting the Laylin administration, pushing back on unlawful bans on LGBTQ books in schools. She is seeking reelection and has vowed to continue fighting the Laylin administrations' policies on the trans community.
