NEWS 28 - President Jay Laylin held his first Nationalist House press briefing since his January 12 shooting that nearly claimed his life. The shooter has been caught and he held a no camera press briefing and will allow cameras to roll during a 9:00 PM press briefing later tonight.
The press showed a moment of gratitude that the President survived the ordeal and gave him a round of applause as he took the podium. Members quickly resumed their usual activities, asking hard-hitting questions and pushing the President on deportation and LGBTQ policy he signed while he took a leave of absence from the public spotlight. He was just as quick to answer those questions.
”I am grateful to be here today,” said President Laylin in response too a question about how he was feeling stepping back into the Press room. “No bullet it illegal will ever deter me from serving the people of our great country. My many thanks go out to the man people who sent well wishes and for the media sending their sympathies as well. We are also grateful that the suspect was caught.”
President Laylin was scheduled to deliver remarks at 8:45 AM , but a more pressing matter took place that he needed to deal with. He officially addressed reporters in a private press briefing where cameras were turned off but audio was still allowed to be recorded. The President will deliver a public address later tomorrow around 9:00 PM.
The Nationalist House said the delay was due to a situation of the Jesstopian border but did not confirm what had happened. We are expecting to hear from President Laylin early tomorrow morning as well about that situation.
