NEWS 28 - After their respective victories during the 2024 Mesa election season, Governor Joshua Adamson, Lieutenant Governor Gregory Brentwood and Mesa Attorney General-Elect Brian Wallard are preparing to be sworn into office on Monday at 10:00 AM.

Election Day was held on October 18, 2024, just days after the 2024 Presidential Election, and voters returned to polls and throughout the day casted their ballots for their governor and attorney general. Many voters who are early voters, were able to cast their vote for their gubernatorial and attorney general candidate on the Presidential ballot.

"I look forward to continuing to serve as your Governor and now that we have won the Nationalist House, it will make governing that much easier," said Governor Joshua Adamson. "There is so much more work that needs to be done to ensure economic growth will continue into the future, and ensure that our kids grow up in a safe, and moral Mesa. The transgender community is supported, however children should not be learning of their ideology or the belief that they are born in the wrong body. Only god can decide what gender a baby becomes. We will work with Nationalists as we have done for the past year under my leadership and we will ensure that we work hard for the people of this state, harder than we ever have in these next two years."

He is expected to take the governor's oath of office alongside Lieutenant Governor Gregory Brentwood and Mesa Attorney General-Elect Brian Wallard at 10:00 AM on Monday. Adamson had remained heavily popular among 73% of registered voters who believe that he made life easier in Mesa, since taking office. He was also viewed more popular to about 24% of Nationalist voters. Joseph Cooke, was more popular with Nationalist voters, but only about 5% of Republican voters viewed him more favorably.

With him looking towards governing the next 2 years, before he takes the oath of office, Adamson is appealing to Nationalists, citing that their voices matter as well, and says he is working to compromise on LGBTQ policy but says he won't allow gender affirming care to pass for Mesians under the age of 18 years old.

"I've made it very clear that gender affirming care will not be legal in this state, but I am willing to make it legal for Mesians over the age of 18, and no younger," continued Adamson. "We must continue to protect our children from this issue, because children deserve to grow up, without the need to question their own identity until they are the age where their choice can be reflected on."

State House and Senate Republicans have pushed through legislation under Governor's Parker Heaton, Kirk Paul and Joshua Adamson to protect students under the age of 18 in schools from reading about transgender ideology, something that Nationalists seem so eager to push on their children. Republicans have always said that adults, which in the context of Mesa State law is 18 and older, should be able to choose to read, view and listen to transgender ideology. But they say children aren't old enough or mentally old enough to process the ideology.

ALDEN TIMES - The 2024 Mesa Gubernatorial Election was held from 7AM to 7PM on October 18, 2024. Following the closure of polls, counting of votes began in Alden with all ballots being flown to Alden for official certification. Alden County and Porterstown Mesa have already cast their vote bank points to their candidates with Alden, giving Joshua Adamson their 5 vote bank points, where as Porterstown gave Cooke there 2.

According to poll watchers, over 5.2 million voters cast a ballot today with about 2.9 million voters either not being able to vote or choosing to not vote. But they say that this election may take longer to call than normal due to the stress on the polling places since the 2024 Presidential Elections that were held on Wednesday.

"We expect the results of this election to take longer because we are still processing out ballots from the Presidential Elections held in our polling places two days ago," said Burton County Election Commissioner Martin Ford. "We ask that you give us time to process these ballots. We will able to scan them fast, as soon as we get more poll workers available to help us count the ballots."

As for the election, the candidate who wins at least 270 vote bank points will be named the victor. In the 2021 special election that elected Kirk Paul as the 19th Governor Of Mesa, saw him win at least 292 vote bank points. While we don't expect this to be the case, forecasts think that Joshua Adamson will have a little bit of a Vote Bank back and forth with Joseph Cooke. The forecast has not yet modeled who the potential winner of the election could be.

But after crushing Joe Cooke in the final Mesa Gubernatorial Debate, both candidates where rated on who had a better debate performance. Adamson had a significantly better performance rating than Cooke, sitting 26 points of Cooke, who showed some weakness during the last debate, and showing his hyper fixation on the LGBTQ community as reasons for his lower rating than Adamson.

"As we get to 17 days out from election day here in Mesa, to elect our state's next governor, we see that Adamson is miles ahead of Joseph Cooke, who is struggling to gain support from unsure voters. But as campaigns carry on, we expect Adamson and Cooke to fight for the spot. Therefore, many experts say that Adamson is highly likely to win a first full term, as most incumbents in Mesa get their chance at a second and third term," said Nancy Yates. "We must also remember that this isn't a Republican challenging a Republican, this is a Nationalist challenging a Republican, in a Republican stronghold state."

As of September 30, 2024, Governor Joshua Adamson is the more popular candidate, mirroring the popularity of Republican Presidential candidate Jay Laylin, who now remains the top gun for the Nationalist House. Adamson has remained 'relatively' popular since announcing his bid for a first full term, before Mesa's 2, four year term limit goes into affect in the State.

Joseph Cooke has seen some gains in major polls, but not enough to give him a solid lead against Adamson. Cooke needs to rally unsure voters and ensure they join his cause, because otherwise, Cooke may kiss the chance at the Governor's mansion goodbye.

NEWS 28 - Joseph Cooke and Joshua Adamson held their final debate last night and both candidates gave their all. Some moments became tense as both candidates argued for 20 minutes straight. Moderators needed to separate the two candidates as tensions heated up.

Polls conducted after the debate, showed that Joshua Adamson had a very heavy lead against Joseph Cooke. The topics of discussion included Abortion, Judicial and Election reform as well as Pay Equity. Both Cooke and Adamson laid out their plans for the state, at times arguing with each other.

On abortion, Cooke and Adamson both agreed that women should have a choice. Adamson however, said that their should be a limit to how long a women can go until an abortion becomes felony murder.

"Abortion is a fundamental right of women and that should not be regulated by men or any person for that matter," said Joseph Cooke. "Women who are victims of rape, incest should have access to the abortion, while women who simply don't have the means to care for the child. should be able to make the conscience decision to abort their child to prevent unintended impacts of adoption."

Joshua Adamson agreed to the incest and rape exception but differed his opinion to those who "simply don't want the child." He went on to explain that giving up a child for adoption isn't "a bad or mentally harmful."

"I think that the only exceptions that should be considered for abortion are rape, incest and the to protect the mother from death or other health complications," said Joshua Adamson. "If you choose to have unprotected sex and the result of that consensual sex is another human being, it should be considered murder to abort that person. If you can't afford that child, give it up for adoption so that someone can take care of the baby, and give it a life it deserves."

On the topic of Judicial reform, Adamson held a stronger position than Joseph Cooke, who struggled to deliver a strong plan to reform the Justice System in Mesa.

"My plan to reform our justice is rooted in our support of law enforcement, love of country, and peace of law and order," said Joshua Adamson. "We must support our law enforcement. The liberalization of the state's government back in 1999, made it harder for Law Enforcement to do their jobs. We plan on granting them more protections while serving, ethically and honestly, the people of our state. I have and will always support law enforcement."

Joseph Cooke expressed the need for more law enforcement overwatch, while promoting spending growth for law enforcement programs. He drew strong criticism for Pro-Law Enforcement Nationalists who said that "with out Law Enforcement, there is no law and order. We need police and advocacy groups will agree as well."

"We need to have more overwatch for LEO, because unchecked power, brings unchecked abuses and unchecked rights violations," said Cooke. "We need to ensure that our streets remain safe, but we need to also ensure that law enforcement don't have unlimited power."

Both candidates then briefly touched on election reform, in the wake of growing concern that the 2024 US presidential election will be stolen, Mesa's voters too are concerned about the integrity of elections in the country but more specifically in Mesa, as they seek to be elected Governor on October 18.

"We must safeguard all elections by introducing policy that seeks to govern the way election boards across the state operate, and ensure they are operating consistent with existing state election laws," said Joshua Adamson. "What happens in communist and dictator-led countries, could happen here if it isn't kept in check and the legal processes that protect citizen votes are completely ripped away."

Cooke responded with a sloppy response to that notion. He explained that votes are secured and will continue to be.

"We really need to focus on the LBGTQ community's rights than the electoral system in our state," said Cooke. "Votes are already secured and will continue to be. There is no need to worry about that. There are bigger issues at hand."

Finally, both candidates discussed pay equality, but many viewers say both candidates fell short of their target when they gave their responses. Both candidates told the moderators that pay equality is important, but neve gave key examples of what they would do to ensure pay equity.

The debate concluded in chaos as both candidates argued that each other's policies would be harmful to each other and called out each other's lack of empathy of key policy and human rights.

On abortion, Cooke and Adamson both agreed that women should have a choice. Adamson however, said that their should be a limit to how long a women can go until an abortion becomes felony murder.

"Abortion is a fundamental right of women and that should not be regulated by men or any person for that matter," said Joseph Cooke. "Women who are victims of rape, incest should have access to the abortion, while women who simply don't have the means to care for the child. should be able to make the conscience decision to abort their child to prevent unintended impacts of adoption."

Joshua Adamson agreed to the incest and rape exception but differed his opinion to those who "simply don't want the child." He went on to explain that giving up a child for adoption isn't "a bad or mentally harmful."

"I think that the only exceptions that should be considered for abortion are rape, incest and the to protect the mother from death or other health complications," said Joshua Adamson. "If you choose to have unprotected sex and the result of that consensual sex is another human being, it should be considered murder to abort that person. If you can't afford that child, give it up for adoption so that someone can take care of the baby, and give it a life it deserves."

On the topic of Judicial reform, Adamson held a stronger position than Joseph Cooke, who struggled to deliver a strong plan to reform the Justice System in Mesa.

"My plan to reform our justice is rooted in our support of law enforcement, love of country, and peace of law and order," said Joshua Adamson. "We must support our law enforcement. The liberalization of the state's government back in 1999, made it harder for Law Enforcement to do their jobs. We plan on granting them more protections while serving, ethically and honestly, the people of our state. I have and will always support law enforcement."

Joseph Cooke expressed the need for more law enforcement overwatch, while promoting spending growth for law enforcement programs. He drew strong criticism for Pro-Law Enforcement Nationalists who said that "with out Law Enforcement, there is no law and order. We need police and advocacy groups will agree as well."

"We need to have more overwatch for LEO, because unchecked power, brings unchecked abuses and unchecked rights violations," said Cooke. "We need to ensure that our streets remain safe, but we need to also ensure that law enforcement don't have unlimited power."

Both candidates then briefly touched on election reform, in the wake of growing concern that the 2024 US presidential election will be stolen, Mesa's voters too are concerned about the integrity of elections in the country but more specifically in Mesa, as they seek to be elected Governor on October 18.

"We must safeguard all elections by introducing policy that seeks to govern the way election boards across the state operate, and ensure they are operating consistent with existing state election laws," said Joshua Adamson. "What happens in communist and dictator-led countries, could happen here if it isn't kept in check and the legal processes that protect citizen votes are completely ripped away."

Cooke responded with a sloppy response to that notion. He explained that votes are secured and will continue to be.

"We really need to focus on the LBGTQ community's rights than the electoral system in our state," said Cooke. "Votes are already secured and will continue to be. There is no need to worry about that. There are bigger issues at hand."

Finally, both candidates discussed pay equality, but many viewers say both candidates fell short of their target when they gave their responses. Both candidates told the moderators that pay equality is important, but neve gave key examples of what they would do to ensure pay equity.

The debate concluded in chaos as both candidates argued that each other's policies would be harmful to each other and called out each other's lack of empathy of key policy and human rights.
