President-Elect Jay Laylin speaks to supporters in Alden County, on October 18, 2024, hours after winning the Presidency.
RUFUS - Now that the race has been officially called, and he is now President-Elect, it left many to wonder how a lone Republican toppled the non-challenged Nationalist Party from the Nationalist House. We will outline all of those detail here.
First and foremost, the Nationalist Party had controlled the Nationalist House for the past 218 years, and since then, many Jesstopians had begun feeling a grudge towards the unilateral power of the party. While they are all elected to the offices around Jesstopia, many Republicans, who have a strong prominence across the country where essentially muted from voting for a Republican, because the Nationalist Party had a larger voter turn out. But as the anger towards the lack of care by the Nationalist Party, voters began registering to vote. It wasn't until Jay Laylin ran for office did Republicans start registering to vote. As Jay Laylin began gaining momentum during the 2024 presidential election, Republicans realized that there was a real chance for a Republican president to emerge. Flailing support from other Nationalists, led to many voters who would have voted for him, to change course and vote Laylin.
Secondly, Thomas Cooke's abysmal performance during the 2024 Presidential debates as well as during his dueling town hall, and his lack of political policy that would set him apart from Jay Laylin, also greatly contributed to the fall of the Nationalist control of the Nationalist House. Jay Laylin out performed him in every way during the presidential debates and even his own town hall. His policies struck a cord with voters, who are tired of living under the "United States Of Gay Jesstopia." Many voters said that Laylin getting back to ending LGBTQ control over the lives of everyday Jesstopians should come first, and that is one of the reasons they are voting for him.
Thirdly, the economy is never far from the minds of Jesstopians and more importantly the voters of the country. After 4 years of President John McCallum, voters felt that Thomas Cooke would do worse. They cite the crippling New Shire inflation under him as the Governor of the State. Many voters say that they can't afford the inflation plaguing the state, let alone the entire country feeling his poor economic plans that led to the inflation. Most voters say that if Thomas Cooke had stronger policies to run with, they would have considered voting for him. They said that Cooke provided nothing but negatives for them, and that he would not be a good president. Millions of the voters who voted for Laylin, likely feel the same way.
Next, we look at Jay Laylin's track record in the Senate where he was both a Senator and the Senate Minority Leader. Under his Senatorship, over 2.9 billion dollars was pumped to his constituency which was used to fix roads, build more housing, invest in poor/below median income residents. He focused on the construction of schools, pushing forward several bills to build more schools around the country. He worked on a bill which passed to increase funding to single mothers who were struggling to get food for their children. That bill past with majority support. He invested 693 million dollars to build more child surrendering stations, for mothers who had their child but no longer wanted them. He also voted for a large bill that would allow addicts to get free care in facilities around his constituency.
Lastly, Jay Laylin was the more competent candidate. Polling data suggested that he was trusted to deal with more stressful situations including negotiations, the wars in Israel and Ukraine as well as other global conflicts. Laylin received 92% of poll takers, who said that he would be best equipped to deal with Russia, Hamas and other terrorists organizations than Thomas Cooke who only received 8%. On other issues he was deemed the more fine tuned and able candidate to lead the United States Of Jesstopia.
These reasons are why Jay Laylin was able to defeat Thomas Cooke and topple the Nationalist Party's grip on the Nationalist House. Others say that Thomas Cooke's lack of major federal government experience also contributed to his defeat. But as of now, it really doesn't matter because Jesstopia will have its very first Republican head of state.
