RUFUS - New Shire is now ordering all residents in the counties of Rufus, Nimitz, Samson, Frankfurt and Brock to evacuate, as heavy rainfall is preparing to make landfall. The storms are expected to drop 12 inches of rain, with flooding being projected to destroy or partially destroy thousands of buildings, structures and homes.
Governor Lynn Rodgers issued Executive Order 045.275, and now requires the residents to evacuate. She says that anyone who fails to evacuate could either be arrested or will be liable for any injuries they sustain, including death. New Shire State Police and other emergency services will be aiding in the evacuation process.
"It is imperative that residents following the direction of the Governor's office, who is working with weather officials," said New Shire State Police Commissioner Lee Adams. "Your risk of dying is increased, and we are expecting 12 inches of water and that will cause major flooding and deadly flooding in low lying areas. She is working to provide you all with constant updates as the storms unfold."
Governor Lynn Rodgers is activating the State police to begin the evacuation process and says that troopers will be available all day to help with evacuations. Residents are being required to evacuate, but the state says that potential fines may be imposed if they don't evacuate their homes.
