RUFUS - Governor Lynn Rodgers issued that New Shire's response to the incoming flooding rainstorms, includes shutting down schools in counties where flooding is expected to occur. In a brief statement issued early this morning, Governor Rodgers said that she expects schools to reopen on Monday, March 17, 2025.

Governor Rodgers has been spearheading New Shire's response to the very late flooding season that usually takes place between October and December. This year, the flooding season kicked off around late January. Rodgers declared a state of emergency for the flooding season last month.

"We are working to develop a strong response to these incoming storms, and that includes schools, colleges and non-essential businesses," said Governor Lynn Rodgers. "Our job is to ensure the preservation of life, and while school is an instrumental part of our child's lives, the dangers of keeping schools open, far outweigh that importance. We are working closely to ensure that all businesses and other sectors are aware of the incoming threat of flooding. We must all work together to ensure the safety over all New Shirens expected to be impacted by the flooding."

New Shire's Department Of Emergency Management is telling residents in the counties or Rufus, Evansville, Samson, Frankfurt, or Brock to plan to evacuate as flooding will be exponentially worse in these areas. President Jay Laylin has made calls to Governor Rodgers and even declared a state of emergency, broadening his authority to send troops and other emergency support to the State.

"There is a strong need to support New Shire State as this is forecasted to be one of the worst flooding seasons of any New Shire has experienced," said President Jay Laylin. "We must work together to protect and preserve life, while also ensuring all those who are trapped in their homes, can get out. I will remain in contact with Governor Rodgers as she continues to work through the flooding."
