NEWS 28 - Senator Joey Rigg's nomination for Interior Secretary is under threat as several Republican senators say they won't support his confirmation, in part, due to his pending case related to allegations of Sexual assault and misconduct. Republicans say they don't plan on backing his nomination and urge President Laylin to select a new nominee for Interior Secretary.

The problem lies with his ongoing sexual misconduct and sexual assault case that was launched against Senator Rigg back in September. The case is still pending and the Senate's leadership drafted an agreement to allow Rigg to carry out the remainder of his term which is set to end on November 10, 2025. Senators hold the fate of Joey Rigg in their hands when they vote on his confirmation or if they will push his confirmation ahead.

"We have a tough fight ahead, and it isn't likely that he will gain enough support or votes to win the confirmation vote," said Senate Minority Leader Harry Rodham. "President Laylin should not have picked him as Interior Secretary because if he is confirmed, there is a strong chance that he will be required to resign as his legal troubles get underway. We simply can't put our support behind his nomination. We are looking to discuss ways to push the President to change his nomination."

Rigg's nomination is the only Laylin nominee that is likely to face a vote of Rejection. If that happens, President Laylin will be required to name a new nominee. Senate Republicans issued that they would fight the confirmation of Rigg, but if several Nationalists choose to support his nomination, he may have a chance, but that seems very unlikely.
