RUFUS - The shooter's identity responsible for injuring President Jay Laylin on January 12, 2025, has been revealed. Federal investigators say that the man was 25 Juan Carlos-Perez, a Mexican citizen, who was in the country illegally on an expired visa.
Agents say that he had a manifest of people he was planning on shooting while he was in the United States Of Jesstopia, including Vice President Cole Bindle, Department Of Homeland Security Secretary Marcus Welder. Notes were also found outlining how Perez would carry out the assassinations.
"After obtaining a search warrant for know properties that were rented by Perez, agents discovered manifestos of all the high ranking government officials he was planning on targeting next," said FCIS Director Barry Wilkenson. "It is very concerning, however we believe he was acting alone in this deliberate and animalistic attack. We found notes along with emails on how he plans to carry out the attacks. Lucky he wasn't able to carry out any further attacks and we are beyond grateful that Perez's act didn't kill President Laylin."
Secretary of the Department Of Justice, Jordan Bardolla, issued the following statement to the press this morning.
"We thank the FCIS, PPS and other law enforcement officials for their quick work to get this individual into custody," said Justice Secretary Jordan Bardolla. "The fact this person was planning further assaults on government officials, speaks volumes of the work that the Laylin administration needs to do to ensure that our border remains secure. We are pushing for the highest sentence allowed."
Officials are continuing to comb through evidence at Perez's apartments, vehicles and any place that he has stayed within the United States Of Jesstopia.
