NEWS 28 - The House Of The People is set to vote later today on whether or not to fill the Speaker's chair, which currently is vacant, to allow Speaker Pro Tempore Matthew Carrington to fill it as the 33rd Speaker Of The House. The call comes just 12 days after he assumed the Speaker Pro Temp's office.
Experts believe that Carrington will easily win the Speakership in a special election that will allow him to retain the Speakership until September's election giving the Nationalist Party an incumbent, making it harder for Republicans to gain the seat during the election.
"We believe this is the best time to get a Speaker positioned in the chair ahead of September's election," said Representative Braden Harris. "Representative Carrington has proven that he has what it takes to lead us in a bipartisan non-biased manner, and has proven that he can provide fair and consistent oversight of House proceedings. He is our best choice to fill the chair at this point."
The vote will begin at 9:00 AM, and will likely conclude by noon. However, officials in the House say that there is a possibility that the House doesn't vote to fill the speaker's chair, and if that happens, Carrington will need to wait until the September speaker election.
"I want to thank the many Nationalist sponsors who have enough faith in me to support me potentially filling the speaker's chair before the September election," said Matthew Carrington. "Our nation faces tough challenges ahead and we must ensure we align the United States Of Jesstopia with the policy and freedom of the democratic nation's around the globe."
