NEWS 28 - President Jay Laylin announces Jesstopia's commitment to signing a peace treaty with Russia after the McCallum Administration started an unnecessary war with Russia on April 2, 2022. The President said the war was essentially a "ghost war."
The President recommitted to Russia that it wants to move past the war between both itself and Russia, to allow healing to continue, and for a formal end to the Russia-Ukraine war, and to come to a mutual agreement on ending fighting altogether.
"As I have said many times, and even more so on the campaign trail, the war between our country and Russia will lead no where, therefore, we look to formally declare our war with Russia over," said President Laylin. "Jesstopia should never have been pulled into the war between Russia and Ukraine, and we should have taken a more neutral position on the war."
The President went on to say how the war between Jesstopia and Russia has cost the United States Of Jesstopia over 6.7 trillion dollars, and has exceeded the necessary financial burden on the federal government by increasing spending on unnecessary military equipment.
"We were funding a war that was not one of ours to fight," continued the president. "We essentially fought a ghost war, because neither side attacked each other, but we still were both spending billions for a war that the McCallum Administration induced on its own. The world needs peace more than ever, and the McCallum presidency exacerbated the tensions overseas.
"Today I announced my plans to meet with Russia President Vladimir Putin to put our war with them at rest officially," explained the President. "I understand that the fighting between both of our countries has stopped, we need to ensure that Russia understands that it can't continue its fighting with Ukraine, and that we are no longer involved in the war."
