President Jay Laylin proposes first major legislation to Congress, ahead of a vote to pass the 2024 Inflation Reduction Act, which will need to clear both chambers of Congress, currently controlled by the Nationalist Party.
RUFUS - The House and Senate are set to vote on the 2024 Inflation Reduction Act tomorrow, and will likely take several rounds of voting to determine whether or not the Inflation reduction act passes Congress before the end of the year. The President introduced the bill via a written proposal to House leadership, and the bill is set to be debated and voted on sometime before the December 15, when Congress is set to recess.
"The 2024 Inflation Reduction Act bill was sent to all House and Senate leadership last night, and both Chambers are now are considering it, as it is a major part of legislation that will aid in economic relief for the Jesstopian people," said House Speaker Gretchen LeWolf. "We understand that Jesstopian families are struggling to afford food, gas, and other essential items. We will work with President Laylin to deliver results for the Jesstopian people. That is why I am proposing an immediate vote on the bill proposal. We will obviously have to look over the contents of the act, and we could see that likely happen after Congress returns for its 84th Session."
Other officials in Congress say that they would likely vote against the bill if it doesn't meet their requirements, and most of Harris' caucus said that he would likely vote to reduce inflation and cut wasteful government spending. Not one single Republican said that they'd vote against the bill, but others are questioning the motives behind the Nationalist Party's blatant refusal to want to work with President Laylin to make life easier.
"It is mind twisting that the Nationalist party is still refusing to work with President Laylin on any major legislation," said Senate Minority Leader Harry Rodham. "There is so much work that needs to be done, and they were willing to sign anything that President John McCallum signed without problems. But now that Republicans control the Nationalist House, it seems as if the Nationalists are trying to reverse course and prevent any major legislation to be pushed through. It's frustrating but we have ways to push legislation through."
The 2024 Inflation Reduction Act if approved by Congress, will work alongside the Wasteful Government Spending Act, that will work to cut government spending that drives up inflation and the national debt, thus allowing prices and inflation to naturally fall back down to 1.2 to 2.2% instead of Jesstopia's current 8%. The President's proposal could cut inflation by .81% before February, but it would further lower inflation as 2025 progresses.
"If Congress can get this bill passed, we will be able to quickly and decisively cut inflation, reduce the cost of everyday items, fuel, groceries and clothing," said President Laylin. "But Congress must be willing to work with us on it to get this accomplished. If they don't pass it, we must redraw our proposal so that we can get to work. But we must push through the Republican-Nationalist barrier that is the only obstacle in the way to reducing costs of living for Jesstopians across our country."
