President Jay Laylin holds first press conference of his president in the Nationalist House Press Room on November 16, 2024.
RUFUS - President Jay Laylin held his first official press conference of his presidency Saturday afternoon, and over the course of the press conference, he answered questions from reporters who all congratulated him on his victory. Questions from reporters ranged from border security to the war in Ukraine and Israel to the reversal of the Israel Travel Ban.
Press Secretary Nancy Yates met with the press corps as well, but focused her attention on the New president and the policy positions he will use to govern the United States Of Jesstopia.
"I first and foremost want to thank you all for being here, at my first official press conference as the President," said President Laylin. "In the coming days I will work to meet with as many of our allies as possible including Cambridge Prime Minister Fredrick Ricketts. We have a lot of work to do, so as of today, we are getting the ground running. We have already spoke with Ukraine President Zelensky and Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. They both have already committed to ending the wars in their countries. I will soon speak with Iran's leadership as well as leaders of Hamas. I've already spoken to US President-Elect Donald Trump to work to further strengthen the commitment to end the wars overseas."
President Laylin also said that he plans on reversing the Israeli Travel Ban, later today, and will announce when he signs the directive. Furthermore, many of the reporters in the room asked questions related to how he plans on responding to the ongoing border closures for travel, that was caused by his predecessor.
"I think it was a very dumb decision to close the border for travel, because the closure didn't prevent COVID from making a slight return back to the country," said President Laylin. "If anything, it harmed the economy more than it prevented COVID from returning. He was incompetent as a President, so I expect nothing less from him. Luckily, now, Republicans control the Presidency and we will make common sense decision to better our country."
The press conference also gave President Laylin a chance to get acquainted with the Nationalist House Press corps. He met with his Press Secretary Nancy Yates and other members of her staff. The press conference also served to allow Laylin to outline what the first 100 days in office will entail.
