NEWS 28 - Would-be assassin Trevor Finn's manifesto shows that Jay Laylin wasn't his only target and had plans to kill other Republican leaders including Senate Minority Leader Harry Rodham, Mesa Governor Joshua Adamson, and other high ranking Republican politicians.
Presidential Protective Service agents also found bomb making materials in his garage and dart boards with Laylin's, Rodham's and Adamson's faces pinned with darts. Agents also found murder-for-hire emails on his personal laptop, with connections to several terrorist organizations, that they have not released as of now. The agency says the terrorist organization have been a known problem in Canada and the UK. As to how he met the organization is unclear still.
"We believe that he was plotting to kill multiple other targets besides the ones mentioned in our preliminary report," said PPS Director David Calmarro. "We are grateful for the fast thinking of our agents, as they quickly eliminated a target that could have been much more deadly. Due to our agent's quick actions, they stopped a would-be serial assassinator, from harming anyone else."
The agency says the suspect was known to have major anger issues, and that likely contributed to his attempt on the life of Jay Laylin. The agency said that it is still investigating whether or not the terrorist organizations had a part to play in this failed assassination plot.
Officials in Congress say that there is "no doubt that security needs to be doubled down for the Inauguration of Jay Laylin and Cole Bindle on November 16, 2024." The Vice President-Elect and President-Elect are set to be sworn in at 12:00 PM and 12:05 PM respectively, and Capitol Security Services are pushing for more security measures.
