NEWS 28 - A popular law student at Bradford University was found strangled to death in his dorm room at Bradford University. Police believe it was a suspected gay-lover slaying, based on multiple pieces of evidence including saliva found on the victims socks, and the missing shoes, shirt and pants.
Police are not releasing any other information other than his identity at this time, and says that the cause of death was by strangulation. The New Shire State Police, Bradford University Police, Bradford Police Department and the Towton County Sheriff's Office have been investigating the murder and will continue to do so.
"We aren't able to release any further information other than that the victim was a 22 year old male whose name is Jordan Kelly, and his manner of death appears to be from Asphyxiation," said N.S.S.P Commissioner Lee Adams. "We are working with University Police officials to secure more patrols by our agency to ensure students remain safe on campus. We are also investigating this homicide and we expect to release more information as it becomes available to us."
The Towton County Coroner's Office says that he was murdered sometime after 12 this afternoon, and believes that the true cause of death was asphyxiation. They also said that the police found him with a missing shirt, pants and missing his shoes. Police say they found saliva on his socks when they were removed by the coroner.
"It appears that this seemed to be some kind of homosexual murder, meaning that it appears that the murdered was in love with the victim," said a N.S.S.P spokesperson. "We are going to speak with campus students who may have been friends with him. This crime is disgusting and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family."
Governor Lynn Rodgers issued a statement after the student was found.
"There is a profound sadness in the University and in the hearts of his family and friends," said Governor Lynn Rodgers. "My heart shatters for his family and the many friends he had. May he forever rest in peace."
