RUFUS - 2024 Presidential Candidates Thomas Cooke(N) and Jay Laylin(R) have agreed to end their campaign rallying following Trump's attempted assassination on Saturday. Both candidates called each other and drafted an agreement that any rally that is held would be done so virtually. The two came to the agreement in response to concerns for both candidate's safety.
"Thomas Cooke and myself have come to the agreement that we would end in person rallies, to ensure both of our continued safety and health," said Jay Laylin. "We must ensure that we are allowing democratic practices to occur, but rallying is just too dangerous after what we saw in Pennsylvania on Saturday evening. My heart continues to hurt for Corey's family, the man who died protecting his family during trump's rally. My heart also goes out to President Donald Trump, the two victims of the shooting who are currently receiving treatment for injuries sustained during the rally."
Thomas Cooke praised the fast thinking Presidential Protective Service Agents for their quick actions ensuring the protection of Donald Trump, who was shot in the ear. In a brief statement, Cooke expressed the following.
"Both presidential campaigns have formulated an agreement to keep us both safe and healthy, and that includes suspending rallying around the country," said Thomas Cooke. "We must keep our democratic values, but this political climate makes it very difficult to carry out those values. We live in a different time and its scary, and its dangerous. President Donald Trump should never have been shot. We must remember that this was a targeted attack, and these attacks have increased over the last 15 years. Think about it, the Assassination of Jessy The Great III back in 2018, really was a pivotal in Jesstopian history, so we are not trying to repeat that history."
Supporters of both campaigns have said that they agree with this concept, and say that they pray for both candidates and President Trump. President McCallum's security detail is being beefed up, similar to what happened with the Secret Service detail of US President Joe Biden. Cooke and Laylin's security also was beefed up by the Presidential Protective Service.
Future in-person rallies have been cancelled through October. Both candidates say they pray for Trump, Corey Comperatore's family, the shooting victims, and each other.
"My prayers remain strong for not only our nation, but for Thomas Cooke and his family," said Laylin, who has attacked the former NS Governor verbally. "Times have changed and we must seek to do what the US is currently trying to accomplish, that is Unity," explained Laylin. "We must come together united as one, or we fall divided."
Thomas Cooke shared the same sentiment towards Laylin.
"I pray that Jay Laylin remains safe, healthy and as determined as he is," said Cooke. "We must remember, that we are all still human and we all still feel. Politically different, biologically connected. Nothing beats that. We must remember that, and I wish his family and campaign health and prosperity during these trying times."
