NEWS 28 - A federal judge has just laid out a sentence to former Product Mart Chief Operations Officer Joseph Richards, who just last year was arrested for possession of child pornography on his Product Mart issued laptop. The company separated him from employment when he was arrested by Peach Tree City Police officers at Product Mart Towers.
The judge did sentence him to ten years but took into account his age, his non-existent criminal record and his ailing health.
“While looking at this case, I see that you have no previous convictions for this direct crime, and I understand that you she is a conflict that this court has taken into account,” said Judge Carey Latimer. “The minimum for this exact crime is 5 with the max 15 years. Today I’m setting your sentence to 10 years. You may be eligible for parole after half of your sentence is completed, meaning that you will be eligible for parole in 5 years. You are also being ordered to immediately register on the sex offender registry with any federal court of the United States Of Jesstopia.”
The sentence comes more than a year after he was originally arrested for possession of child pornography, which in New Shire is an immediate felony. He was promptly fired from Product Mart following his arrest at the corporate offices.
”You will be required to undergo 120 hrs of community service,” continued judge Latimer. “Sir I wish you the best of luck and think you need to start understanding what’s wrong and right.”
