WASHINGTON, MESA - Governor Joshua Adamson says he and state officials are preparing for a second round of heavy rain showers and thunder storms as the current rainstorms subside and dissipate. Governor Adamson issued that all public schools in Burton, Castor and Easton counties are closed for at least two weeks, citing potential for flooding conditions.
"It is important that we protect students, parents, staff, faculty and administration in any way we can," said Governor Adamson. "To do so, I am signed Executive Order 0200128, entitled "Directing The State Of Mesa's Department Of Education, The Burton County School Board, The Castor County Public School System And The Easton Valley School Board To Direct All County Schools To Be Closed For The Duration Of Two Weeks." This order shall remain in effect until an order rescinding this order is issued or an order modifying this existing order is issued by myself. Let's get to safety, and let's get through this storm and flooding season together."
The Governor's office, which temporarily relocated headquarters to Washington County, is issuing that high ground should be sought as flood levels rise to 12 inches and as homes begin filling with water.
"I am also reminding residents to be vigilant during this time, as flood waters bring in creatures such as alligators, crocodiles and other species who get picked up by heavy rainfall and relocate in the flood waters," continued Governor Adamson. "Be weary of what could be lerking in flood waters. Alligators are dangerous and can easily drown and kill a human being and its even easier for them to nab children, so do exercise caution."
State Officials are saying that the next round of rain and thunder storms are scheduled to start sometime on Wednesday morning, giving residents mere days to evacuate their homes.
The Mesa Highway Patrol have not reported any looters and no deaths have been reported. President McCallum has given Mesa praise for its quick response to the incoming storms that have already hit the state and ones that are on their way.
"Governor Joshua Adamson and his team are doing an incredible job, especially in issuing immediate evacuation orders," said the president. "It is important to get an early lead. Be two steps ahead of the storm, which is what the Government of Mesa's plan is all about. Great job to the incredible law enforcement and emergency service personnel as well as humanitarian organizations for their quick responses and great work. We are proud of the work you all have been doing."
President McCallum and the Nationalist House says that both the President and Nationalist House officials will visit Mesa when the storms subside and flood season is over. The Nationalist House says it is keeping in constant contact with Governor Adamson's office, and State departments for further updates.
