NEWS 28 - Mesa Governor Joshua Adamson has just announced that he is imposing yet another penalty for residents who fail to leave their homes in mandated-evacuation zones around Alden, Ashburn and Diester Counties.
In a statement issued to press early yesterday morning that Governor Adamson ordered that the State Justice Department authorize in full, a temporary amendment to the State's Justice Code to allow for the arrest of residents who fail to evacuate their home, which went into affect immediately this morning.
The fines would be in addition to a full arrest, but he is planning modifying the amendment to let law enforcement to choose which should be imposed, and will give law enforcement broad discretion.
"This new amendment has taken effect and law enforcement will begin enforcing this new amendment, which is only valid until June," said Governor Adamson, who is deadset on forcing residents of danger areas. "The power of this amendment is important to preserve life. Mesa citizens are facing the largest rainfall in the history of the State on Saturday and it will bring heavy flooding over 24 inches."
The Governor's Office has been defended by the State's Supreme Court, and the Jesstopian Supreme Court who all say the Governor Adamson has "the absolute authority to force Mesians out of the homes in the name of preserving life."
