NEWS 28 - Mesa Governor Kirk Paul will now face a recall election, which will determine his fitness to serve as the State's governor, after hundreds of anti-trans policies where signed by him, and executive orders banning the use of gender affirmation surgeries.
"The announcement of the recall today, shows us that the Governor is not exempt from the law, and cannot discriminate due to one's gender identity," said Nationalist House Press Secretary Josh Smite. "Governor Kirk Paul continued to violate the rights of Mesian citizens, especially those who identify as transgender."
Governor Kirk Paul is officially facing recall, yet many State Republicans are showing their support and continuing to sign anti-trans legislation, and says they will strengthen the gender affirming surgery bans and other executive actions that have been signed.
The recall election will likely be held in September, but many voters says they want to host it before then. The recall election must be approved by the State Legislature, but the grace period before a vote is required is 2 months. So the earliest the voter can be held is June 15, 2023.
