RUFUS - The Senate Ethics Committee has dropped the suit of Lillian Marque, as evidence submitted disproves that she was ever at the Nationalist House at the time her alleged assault took place. In a joint statement the committee had this say about dropping her case.
"As an investigative body, we work based on evidence and statements by witnesses. We can't just call someone guilty because of one person's claims," said Laylin and Newsom. "Due to the nature of this case, the evidence submitted has disproved McCallum sexually assaulted her at the Nationalist House, thus leading us to drop her suit."
Media outlets first reported that Marque would seek a civil suit against the President, but Marque later said that she would not seek a civil suit as her lawyers and a circuit court judge she doesn't have a case, after evidence is rejected by the Ethics Committee.
"It is a win for the President, and it shows that not all claims of sexual assault are accurate," said Nationalist Speaker Gretchen LeWolf. "He is still going to have to weather the storm, but he will make it to calmer waters."
