NEWS 28 - Sam Simon's funeral is now underway and many speakers have given insight on the incredible life and work Simon did, not only as Governor but as Vice President. During the funeral President McCallum has spoke about his dedication to service and his dedication to the United States Of Jesstopia.
Others gave praise to the former Vice President and expressed their gratitude for his partnership with them. They also expressed their sincerest sympathies to the Simon family.
"It is with a great sadness that we are here today to say goodbye to an incredible father, son, politician and leader," said Cambridge Prime Minister Fredrick Ricketts. "He has done so much in so little time, and his dedication and call for duty was unwavering even as his health deteriorated. He continued to fight for the Jesstopian people even after leaving office. He continued to provide resources to families who were struggling, aided financially to several student programs for students at risk of committing crimes, due to their financial hardships. His dedication to others over self was something that can and will never be replicated here at Jesstopia's national capitol."
President McCallum also gave a heartfelt speech reminiscing about the time they worked together and the work that he had done in his role as Vice President.
"During his tenure by my side, Simon always went out of his way to ensure all Jesstopians were heard. He often went to poor cities and underdeveloped cities and talked to the residents there," said President McCallum. "He would always tell me that all people deserved a fair and honest chance to make a decent living and a wage that isn't forcing people to live paycheck to paycheck, but allows them to do the things they love to do. He often expressed concerns of the cities that were, in his words forgotten or abandoned. He worked so hard to ensure everyone had a fair chance. His dedication to our nation will never ever be forgotten and his honorable life will continue to inspire all of us to live up to the honorable man that he was and will always be known to be."
His body will again be moved from the Nationalist House to his final resting place in the Nationalist House Burial Grounds. This will take place at 11:00 AM and he will receive a 21 gun salute, authorized by President McCallum.
